...and my very first attempt at a video movie to boot! I still don't know exactly what I did but it's up on Google nonetheless. It's a little fuzzy but I'll learn. If anyone out there has a pointer or two to shoot my way about making these movies, I'd be most appreciative. ((--::

The load consists of a new king sized sheet. Check out the long spray rinses. I love them but don't think they were always that way and as the timer performs beautifully otherwise, I'm not going to touch it.

This is the first machine I ever worked on and I gutted it completely including taking out the suspension rods.

Bob-The load mistakenly started off on low water level and I raised it to medium shortly after starting the wash.

More vids will be forthcoming once I learn a bit more of what I'm doing. It will be my pleasure. ((--::

Dick, that is a very nice machine. Must be slightly older than Robert's since it does not have a lint filter, and his does.

If I can indulge you at a still later date, I'd love also to see a video of the 1960 Kenmore. I have not seen that machine running in many years.

DING DING DING...

GREAT VIDEO!
Very amazing agitation...

But... sorry for the ignorance... what does the DING DING need for?!?!? Fabric Softner time, maybe? The END of Cycle... or not?
Or...did you forget some biscuits baking LOL :-D

Thanks anyway...
Good Bye

Dick,

Thanks, that was very enjoyable. I am impressed. What a neat machine.
You asked for suggestions, so here a few:
1) I liked the way you basically kept the camera steady. Long, steady shots are easiest on the eye.
2) Cutting is better than panning unless you are very experienced.
3) Sound is tough, but I would suggest a separate mic. instead of the camera mounted one.
4) Video compression was ok. A two-pass compression after editing would probably have reduced the block-y-ness as would have stronger lighting.
But hey - that is just cause you asked. I like this machine. She has attitude.

That was great Dick, thanks so much for sharing. Looking forward to seeing you at Tucson 2007!!

Hi Dick, that was a great video, thanks! Your 1956 Kenmore is just beautiful, it looks like its in mint condition and runs perfectly! I look forward to seeing more.

Kevin, Google video does the video compression so that is not something we have a control over.

Great video Dick!

You have a fab machine too! I know how much of a Kenmore fan you are. You have definitely done this beautiful washer justice! She sounds great and looks terrific! What was the rpm on the spin?

Dick, that movie was great. Such a great looking machine, and it sounds wonderful! Just love the end of chime cycle - that is the first time I've heard a Kenmore do that. Do you have any high res pictures of this machine and control panel?

Thanks for taking the time to edit and post the vid ~

Ben

Thanks to all for your comments on the 56 and the tips about the vid. I was thinking that I should have saved the movie in a higher quality format but after reading the responses, I guess I can continue to save them at the same level.

Scott, Of course I will do a vid of the 60.

Diomede, in case you didn't read Ben's message, it is the END of cycle chime. I like it.

Venus, I believe it spins at 525 rpm.

Ross, I'll give you a holler this weekend.

And here's a pic of the control panel of the 56.

I love it-- Thank You

And it's freaky because the new ones have spray rinses that long, two 15 second sprays. Your guy is just fortelling the future.

Great restoration Dick! Love the video too. Glad that you got this baby finished and up and running, and looking new and minty fresh.
I just LOVE the 1950's Kenmores! They are just too awesome!!

Remember... I have it's evil twin lurking in the Mid-Worst! <:

Thanks Dick for your neat video - I'd never seen a '58 Kenmore in action with all it's bells'n'whistles. Definately one nice machine, well done on the restoration. It looks like it can wash too!
Thanks again,
sheerlookhomes.

Great lookin machine Dick! You should be very proud..May I ask how long it took you to restore? was it hard to find the necessary parts?

Thanks!

Dick, fantastic video and an awesome job on the restoration; I remember when you acquired the Cycla-Fabric a couple of years ago. It really looks showroom new, and sounds very quiet to boot...I bet the pictures and video don't do it the slightest bit of justice. Thanks for sharing!

Sudsamatic

I see the sudsamatic switch. If I flip it, does that mean you'll return. It was great to see you this fall, here in Seattle. I plan on going to the Tuscon wash in so we'll get to visit there.
The 56 looks great! I love the watching the K on the pregnant Roto-Swirl go back and forth.

Dick thanks again. Truely a spectacular, momentuous occassion. I thnk it's quite uncanny just how strong the resemblence is to Robers 1957 ??? LK, the first LK on the market. I guess Sears had the continuous looking control panels even then--the frog-eyed ones and this panel for the most TOL section.

Remember.

Thank You for this video, this was the same washer we had when I was young. I can remember getting a stool to climb up
and watch it wash. The only thing missing was my mother's vioce ( leave that machine alone before you get hurt)
Thank's Again.
