Hi... again i was wondering if anybody knows about viking washing machines. Ive researched by nothing pops up. Have you knoticed that the deplition of imperials has been down recently? People are recycling instead of donating or dumping.

Viking

Viking was a brand marketed by the Eaton's company in Canada. Usually, these were sourced from General Electric but sometimes other sources. I have a Franklin built Viking washer and a Viking wringer washer made by Simplicity Canada.

Viking dishwashers

This was the exception to the Eaton's rule - while most of the vintage washers and dryers were GE-rebadges, the dishwashers (ranges and refrigerators too) were re-bagded Westinghouse models.

Your Viking TL

Eddy,

I'm a new member but I've been watching washer videos on YouTube and AW.org for a couple of years. I noticed the Viking TL in your collection. I'm intrigued by this machine. How many of it or the Gibson, Coronado or Kelvinator counterparts are still around? How well does it wash? Is there a chance you might post a video of it?

BTW, the last time I saw a Franklin-based Viking TL was a brand new one on a Canadian website in 2007. It was a new-in-box 2005 machine with a $285.00 price tag. It had a white tub and angel-winged agitator and a trough-type lint filter like on the Westy TLs.

When I get enough room to start my collection, I'd like to have one of these machines. I'd like the one with the hat-type lint filter and a spreckled metal tub like the one on Photo #29 of Aberdeen Farm.

What I Knoo Aboot Viking

Throughout the 60's, Eaton Viking was made by Franklin (Kelvinator). Then in the 70's, they switched to GE. Simplicity was actually made by McGraw & Edison (which owned Speed Queen at that time.

Viking

Hi Larry, the Viking I have is sitting in the carport at the moment, the motor went and now only hums (likely start windings). I had to manually drain it as it was in the middle of a rinse cycle and just quit. So, sorry no vid's of this at present.
