Looks like both kitchens have Jenn Aire grills and built in toasters, the basement kitchen has a GE Americana fridge and a vintage flat top range.

Nice house! The incredibly low price has me a bit curious as to hidden issues. I checked the crime rate (512) and it's higher than the US average (366). Other than being mostly original inside, I'm a bit confused at the price range. One hell of a deal if everything checks out!

Interesting home

Hi Cole, thanks for posting, it certainly an interesting home not bad looking on the outside they certainly didn’t have great taste with the awful light fixtures, and other stuff that was used in it I can only imagine what the energy bills would be to run the thing my guess is that they didn’t use the swimming pool for decades.

It’s interesting I kind of doubt it was really built in 72. I don’t think they had those Americana refrigerators that long it looks to be a little bit closer to 69 or 70 but maybe they were planning to build the house for years and had the appliances sitting around who knows.

It’s also interesting that the assessment is almost 500,000 but the house is only worth 300,000 , but you still have a $5000 year property tax bill which is pretty significant as the house is in Indiana.

The architecture is great; quite typical of upper-price range homes from the late 1960's/early 1970's.  Looks like it's been occupied by the same people for most, if not all, of it's life.  The interior does look "dated" but not "ugly" IMHO.  I would guess that the downstairs Americana was pre-owned by the occupants and was a much-loved appliance, and was integrated into the second kitchen.

A lot of (unique) house for not a lot of money.

Corning

Thanks, that was the name l was trying to think of, but it escaped me.

I agree, while expensive (to me) that is a lot of house for the price, especially on an acre of land.

I Actually like the interior and the architecture. I do not like that indoor pool though, I don’t like pools anyway, so having one indoors just is icky to me. To be honest, it creeps me out.

Home for sale in Indiana

The corning range in the basement kitchen is their second generation stove, built somewhere between 71 and 74, the KitchenAid dishwasher. There is actually a KDS 17, did anybody notice the cool Thermidor built-in microwave?

The indoor swimming pool is actually a very cool thing and they did build it in a separate area so hopefully humidity would not be a cause of concern for the house. I had two customers in Northwest Washington That had indoor swimming pools and they caused a lot of problems with moisture throughout the house. Customer ended up discontinuing the use of it.

It looks to me like this swimming pool didn’t have much use. They probably got tired of a maintenance but I would definitely use that almost all the swimming I do is in indoor pools I don’t want to be in the sun its a much better place to have a swimming pool in general, because there is so much less maintenance not having leaves and insects always getting in the pool, plus you don't have contamination from swim wear as you can always swim naked all year round any time of the day or night.

You hit the nail on the head Matt when you said the designer should have been banned from ever doing something again but you have to consider the time and where it’s at just because somebody had a lot of money doesn’t mean they have taste, but I would never have a ceiling fan in any house anywhere they are obnoxious things look at the lights hanging on those ceiling fans, all ceiling fans do is raise energy costs for heating and cooling the house and blow dusty air around. To me They’re always a poor excuse for not having good climate control in your home.

Wow

Yes that house has taste of the era it was built but I’m surprised at the price. I live in the north east of England where house prices are considered cheap. But this is an example of what you’d get up here for that price

Is the location not a good one? I don’t know the area

Area/neighborhood is likely fine, region is a bit depressed (de-industrialization). Price is pretty fair, all things considered but it is going to be expensive to maintain (lots of systems to maintain/cubic feet to heat/cool). Roughly 40 miles to either north suburban Indianapolis or Lafayette (U of Indiana). There are still some General Motors and Chrysler operations in the neighborhood---a transferee might well take a flyer on a cool house like this and let GM sell it when they move away.

Amazing price.....

......and I rather like the "eclectic" decor.
Beats the "shades of gray" interiors that seem to be the "norm" today.
The price is unreal to a Californian like me.
In my area, a house like that on 1 acre would sell for about 5 million plus!
Just WOW!!

Saw a TikTok of this home last week, agent walked through the whole house.  Spectacular home for its time.  There were two baths near the pool, one had a GM Frigidaire Skinny-Mini.

Not sure about the location but the listing is tagged as "Pending" so someone sees value.

That indoor pool facilitated use year round. the epitome of luxury. I think we'd both love an indoor pool. when I toured Hearst Castle in the 1990s and saw the indoor ppol, I just about lost it. I could be in my birthday suit all I wanted.

We do have an indoor pool where I live. Yes there is a lot of humidity in the room more so when the heater is on for the water. The heat in the room does help lower it but we have a massive dehumidifier that just does that room and it keeps it comfortable. The best time to swim and hang out in the room is when we are have a snow storm and it is whirling around outside and you are in a comfortable room. It is usually any where from 80 to 90 degrees depending on the position of the sun coming through the large sliders that separate the pool room from the out side deck. Will probably be in there tomorrow during the storm.
