Hi Andrea,
I'm trying to think of an "apartment size" vintage dryer that actually had a window. Most dryers don't. I believe the ones with windows were upper end models, so I doubt you'll find an "apartment" size dryer with a window. Unless you find an older imported, compact dryer, but then again, I don't know there were very many with windows.
I'd suggest diligently searching Craig's List (
www.craigslist.org). Or try getting friendly with some appliance repair guys or smaller appliance shops that sell new or used appliances (not Lowes / Home Depot). Let them know what you are looking for and why, then check back on a regular basis (they tend to forget). They might haul an older machine away when delivering something newer, that could work. It may be possible, though unlikely, they might have a newer-ish front load type set. A lot of those dryers have windows, but they are obviously not vintage.
If you find your search (over time) is not producing any results, you may want to consider buying a regular dryer and having some handy friend install a window. As it's only for display it doesn't need to be a perfect installation, but this could be an option.
You could also try contacting Robert, the webmaster for this site, (also in Minneapolis) he may be able to offer a suggestion or idea.
This image (created by Ken - bajaespuma) is an early-mid 60's full size Whirlpool dryer with a window (one of the few I can think of at the moment).
I hope this helps!
Kevin
