I think I read somewhere that Caloric dishwashers were to be avoided.

look pretty nice - in the right kitchen, I like this GE, but reportedly(?) they're not too reliable.

GE's of That Era....
....Were very reliable.
You could absolutely count on them to leak, drip, rust and perforate their tubs.
All that, and you got Harvest Gold, too!

This is a Potscrubber III model, and they had Perma-tuff tubs and heavier duty nylon racks, so the usual rusting was all up eliminated. These models also cleaned well because they had a self cleaning filtration system, which permitted GE to lower the amount of water used in its normal cycle.
That said, it still used copious amounts of water, had a very inefficient pump, and limited loading versatility (although the top rack holds a lot). Models below this still had the plastisol lined tanks, and are should be avoided for daily use.
This model is the entry level to the PS III line; many members here have (or had) the GSD 1200 or above (myself included) who are/were very pleased with these machines. They clean well.
