Vintage Canadiana - Beatty automatic washers and dryers

I came across a bunch of vintage appliance brochures a while ago in Sherbrooke and since I've had them I have been puzzled about 'who made them'... I figured that like Inglis, Beatty bought the rights to manufacture a US design in Canada. So, have a look at these and let me know what you all think...
This is the first of a set of three brochures - the Wondermatic appears to be the TOL model of the Beatty line.

The washer

is a really interesting design. The 'Visual Selector' dial seems unique - you dial the combination of type of clothing and soil level and then set the main control to match the colour on the selector dial. But the tilt front and dispensers for fabric softener and bleach? I have never seen anything like that before!!
My observation is that the washer resembles the Western Auto Wizard brand... Were they made by Coronado??

The dryer

reminds me of a Norge, but I could be way out here... The air flow is based on air being sucked through the drum and into a filter - that was the GE method, too, though, wasn't it?? I am sooo easily confused...

Tech specs

Just to complete the brochure, here's some technical data on the washer and dryer. The publication number leads me to believe these may be 1963 models. Darndest thing - I know very little about the Beatty brand... I know that in the late 60s, General Steel Wares merged Beatty, McClary, and Easy appliances together, then in the mid 70s, Camco (they built GE and Hotpoint appliances here in Canada) bought the GSW appliance division and kept only the McClary brand name.
Oh, and if anyone is interested, I have brochures on the MOL and BOL Beatty washers and dryers as well as a brochure on their wringer washers!

Easy

Beatty was always based on the Easy appliances, just like Inglis is based on Whirlpool. Moffat was also the Canadian counterpart of Norge.

Thanks for posting this and yes, I'd very much like to see the catalogues for the MOL's and the BOL's.

I like this company already: anyone who has worked with industrial washers is going to love the dispenser set-up on those Beatty machines. Making all that empty space inside the cabinet available to hold additives in their original containers is an idea whose time came, hung around for a while and then left the building in frustration. Amazing to me it never caught on in this country. I guess as a people we're not all that interested in doing laundry well.

Hi paul thanks for posting. I would like to see more close up photos. These machines look like they have 2 timer dials.
It does sort of look like Blackstone.

My friend Fred's mother had machines that looked a great deal like these. She owned both Easy and Blackstone washers at one time or another, and a dryer that looked like the one pictured. I would say Beatty licensed the design from one or the other.
