Today the local gay car club went on an outing to a junk yard that is about 100 miles west of the Phoenix area. The guy who owns the place doesn't let a lot of outside people into his place, but he does open the doors for the car club every once and a while. I met my partner there around this same time four years ago. Anyways most of the cars are from the 20s 30s 40s some 50s and 60s. There are also vintage mobile homes/travel trailers there that are filled with almost anything. No vintage automaitc washers though. Here are some nice photos of the yard and some of the stuff I discovered.
This is one view of the yard.

Junkyards are fun!

Thanks for posting. Thirty years ago there were a lot of yards with cars that vintage...not so much now.

I spot a 1952-54 Nash Ambassador or Statesman in the last pic.

One of my uncles had three Edsels at one time. He thought they'd make him rich some day. Ha.

That Fisher

is a 400 receiver made 1963-68, uses very hard to find 7868 output tubes, but I think the Russkies are making them again. See if the 12AX7 tubes in the front end are original Fisher brand Telefunkens (look for the embossed diamond in between the pins) they have amazing long life and go for around $40-50 used each! I used to write for a (now defunct) vintage tube audio magazine, Vacuum Tube Valley, and have all kinds of info on these if you need it.

To Go With This Theme..

To think at one time all of the cars in this video (as well as the pictures above) were new, shiny, fast, and turned heads. Now, they're nothing but dilapidated and rusty pieces of metal. Sad. Some can possibly be restored to brand new condition (if you want to invest major amounts of money and find necessary parts) and others are too far beyond repair.

There's also some more "good" (but depressing) videos on You Tube of the same subject.

I didn't care much for the music selected with this video, so I muted it.

The owner of this place also has a second yard where there are a few cars. Some are restored and some are waiting to be restored. Only problem is that they have all been sitting for at least five years without seeing any outside. Even the restored ones. I dont' think any of them have moved since the last time we were there four years ago.

Thats one of the club members in the photo.
