The Cheer is sealed and in great shape... i wonder if its the mythical Blue Cheer...

also, large and small box of fab, and a bottle of the liquid. Lovely glass bottle of Bulette, a box of Punch, some vintage Cascade, some vintage (who knew?!) Fabuloso, a healthy sounding model 9 missing its turntable and beaters, and a cool mid century star pattern ladle. The commercial steel baking pan is in great shape too!

You had a great day at the sales! That is likely the blue Cheer - can you still smell anything from the box? You'll have fun using that in the Easy - lots of suds. The Fab pretty much sucks as a detergent but it's not so bad for lightly soiled towels, etc. I always liked the scent.

Don't open the Cascade box, you'll get addicted :-)

Nice Haul ! Welcome To Our World

Universe of vintage laundry product collectors! We've got you now, soon you'll have stuff in every nook and cranny of your home! *LOL*

Saw that sale but couldn't be bothered driving all the way down to NJ and really didn't need anything anyway. Petrol prices are starting to rise even in *cheap* NJ so rather have saved the effort for the upcoming holiday weekend.

Have the same box of Punch detergent, but sits unused. Several smaller boxes of Cheer sit in the same condition as well. Just love the scent of the stuff. Used Bluette bluing for ages, but after nabbing a huge box of Bleachette cubes, and later Reckitt, never bothered again. Sent it along to a member as a gift.

Have a box of FAB, but it is the *only* version one is ever interested in "Lemon Freshened Borax". Someone needs to bring back that scent!

Again, great haul!

Cheer

Version you have is the one most of us "youngster" remember from the 1980's or so. This preceeded the "Colourguard" formula which IIRC is no longer available.

Mine contains enzymes but IIRC no phosphates, earlier versions including the "Blue Cheer" from the 1950's or so like other laundry detergents of the era did have STPP.

Thanks for the welcome Laundress... but sweetie I've been here for a bit. I've enjoyed seeing your awesome finds! I'll try and get a picture of the shelf in the laundry when I get these babies integrated. Not a lot of space, but I ~do~ love the old product boxes!

That sale was amazing. Just the sort I love. Wish I had more space and money, but who knows, i might end up in the same lunacy... hundreds of boxes of personal care products all over that basement, a lovely early avocado A806...

Ok, I'd best stop now before I start emailing...

Cheer

I'm surprised that any Cheer of that vintage had enzymes. I used it until it was replaced by the compact version and never noticed enzymes listed.

In our area, you could find it with and without phosphates. The stores with a strong Northeastern presence tended to have the non-phosphate version while local outfits and those based in the South or Midwest would get the good stuff.

The compact version was a grave disappointment. Although it had enzymes, it was WHITE, not blue, didn't smell the same, and was not made with phosphates. I called P&G to ask when the phosphate version was coming out, and was told NEVER. They did make compact Tide with phosphate for a year or two.

My Boxes Of Cheer "Triple Colour Guard"

List:

Cleaning agents (anionic and noninoic surfactants, enzymes) wter softeners (aluminosilicates, sodium carbonate), processing aids, (sodium sulfate), colour protection agents, dye transfer inhibition agent, soil suspending agents, suds control agent and perfume.

Contains No Phosphorus.

Contents are blue and have that wonderful scent one remembers from childhood. Cheer was Mother Dear's brand, well after she gave up on that ghastly Cold Power stuff.

Methinks will give some a whirl in the Miele next wash day.

Here is a link to my Cheer and Wisk stash.

The picture has every bit of Cheer you've got? ColorGuard is the compact version, isn't it? That should have enzymes, as yours does. I've learned never to say never (well, working on it) but as best I recall all the "color protection" iterations came after the classic size boxes and formulae had disappeared.

Not that it makes a particle of difference now.

Dear Mistereric:Do you still have the vintage Fab detergent?

Mistereric: I was wondering if you still had the vintage Fab detergent with the built in fabric softener from the estate sale? If you did, how much do those cost? I would be interested in those as well as if you had any other vintage laundry detergent boxes and bottles that were still full with detergent such as Bold and Bold 3 and Yes detergent with the built in fabric softeners. Those were some awesome products that were around when I was growing up, they should have never gotten rid of those, they were so awesome! I wish that Proctor and Gamble would bring back the original Bold or Bold 3 with the built in Fabric Softener and I wish that Phoenix Brands would bring back Fab detergent with the built in fabric softener.
