Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

A 1949 Emerson projection TV to be exact. Needs some work on the cabinet and a cap job. Not high on the list of projects, but will eventually get completed.
Unfortunately has some water damage.

Very nice find-in those older TV days CRT's were largely small screen-so set makers used them as projection elements in projection sets such as this.RCA made a projection "set" that was for cinema use-they show up from time to time-the CRT's for them are unobtaniable!!!SAD!!

Very Nice!!!

Nice find Justin!!! I am interested.

Let Me know? Send me some pick of the other TV's you have.

Speaking of HV, I recall a day in my tech school TV electronics class where we all had to measure the 3rd anode voltage in a 32" color TV (~40Kv). Its all perfectly safe, the probe is well insulated etc. But one student was visibly scared. There was one guy in the class that was the clown/jerk. Right as Mr Timid slid the probe under the anode cap, Mr Jerk slammed a text book on the desk behind the guy. To say he jumped was an understatement!

There is one TV currently in the Pavek Museum that reminds me a bit of this one. It is also a small CRT projection unit. The CRT is upwards firing through a big heavy glass magnifying lens. There is a pop up 45 degree mirror to turn the image towards the viewer.

Its always cool to see all the ways they used to make things. This holds true to TV's as well as vintage appliances!

I like projection TV's as well-in fact still use a CRT rear projector HD set-still works well.
The HV sources we use at the transmitter are UNSAFE to measure with a portable instrument-not really the voltages but the high RF voltages present and the VERY high current. One transmitter uses 30KV DC at 30A NO WAY would I want to use a portable instrument for this. This rig has killed one person and almost another with the HV supply in it.One transmitter is down today and our shift is working on it-High RF curent has burned up a copper plate that goes on one end of switched vacuum cap.Cap is OK.Probably day shift will have to continue-we are taking a break now.The transmitter we are working on uses 10-14Kv plate voltage on the final PA stage and 20-60A current depending on power setting-250/500Kw.On the mearsuring of the volotage in the set-poor Mr. Timid-as Mr Jerk slapped the book on the table. This could have caused Mr Timid to slip-and get bit!I would have taken Mr Jerk and slapped him around--or better yet hook HIM to the anode of the CRT and fire it up!If someone on my shift doesn't want to have to deal with HV so be it.We all treat the HV sources here with deep respect and all cautions! The TV HV may knock you down like a stun gun-but the HV here WILL KILL!

I've seen these only from someone's collection, in a photo, but never the back, interior side...and not this unit, which is so clean looking. Will you post future pics of it when you get it working to your liking..? They took care of it, didn't they?
