Ad: " Hotpoint electric stove (vintage 1939-1942) in excellent working condition. Overall dimensions: 36" High x 25" Deep x 54" wide. Stainless steel top has five burners, one 6-quart fryer, and timer/clock. Two ovens (one on each side) measure 15" High x 16" Wide x 21" Deep.

Definitely a nice looking stove.....BUT........

I see five burners, one six quart cooker, two ovens, eleven controls.

Now the last time I checked, unless there's a new type of math that I don't know about please explain how-

5 + 1 + 2 = 11

Hotpoint and GE ovens have a selector switch for Bake, Broil or Time Bake in additon to the thermostat. That takes care of 4 dials. There might be a warming oven switch or a minute timer for the last dial.

Would you look at that beautiful porcelain in the open oven?

Philip Johnson house

I don't know why, but the lines of this freestanding stove just made me think of the Philip Johnson house, which has a completely different set of kitchen appliances.

It has such clean, even contemporary by today's standards, lines. Not too colourful, but I can't imagine a color working here.

And I'm not saying I love the Philip Glass house or have any opinions others should buy into - just sayin', those stove lines are pure and clean.
