Vintage Front Load Washer videos

Hello, my name is Amy, and this might sound like an odd request. I have been searching the internet for a while now to view videos of front loading washers (the kind that go continuously in one direction, not the kind that stop and reverse direction). I watch these videos as a way to relax, soothe my mind, or fall asleep. The majority of the videos I watch seem to be made by Kevin B. At any rate, they are condensed versions of a cycle. When I was a kid, we had a Westinghouse Laundromat washer. I can remember sitting for hours in front of it, just relaxing and watching the suds splash on the window. That being said, recently, I lost my daughter Maggie, and the only thing that seems to calm me is sitting in front of my laptop, or phone and watching videos of front loading machines doing laundry. I get my videos off of youtube. If I ask pretty please, can some of you reading this, please produce a few more videos, possibly, longer ones, since I have to keep re-watching the shorter ones? I'm certain that I am not the only person who finds peace and comfort through the sight and sound of a front loading washer. Thank you in advance. P.S. Kevin B if you are reading this, can you please tell me what the music you used on your video of the 1969 Lady Kenmore washer/dryer combo is?

First of all, welcome to AWO.

I'm really sorry for your recent loss.

I think you're going to love to know that Kevin B from YouTube is here. His screen name here is Revvinkevin.

Knowing Kevin the way I know (he's my best friend here in the USA), I'm pretty sure he'll fell honored to know that his videos help you find some comfort but, instead of speculating, I'll wait until he posts his own comments and opinions, but I'm forwarding this thread straight to his phone just to make sure he sees that ASAP.

Regarding videos, Youtube is full of them and you came to the right place. I'm more then sure that it will be a pleasure for many members here to help you, I believe this will be a very fun thread with tons of videos that we all will love to watch (again and again)

By the way, Kevin has super cool Westinghouse washers in his collection. If he doesn't do it first, when I have a chance to visit "Disneyland" and find any of the Westinghouse hooked up, I'll make some videos specially for you.

Nothing harder than losing a child, you have my sincere condolences there. She's most certainly in a better place, patiently awaiting your arrival when it's time.

All of my vids are topload Maytags and wringer washers. Not nearly as soothing as a frontloader.

Watching Front loading Washers Run

Hi Amy, It s very nice of you to tell us of you love for watching these machines run. 

 

Any of us of a certain age have lost so many people in our lives but there can't possibly be anything worse than losing a child, I am so sorry.

 

My first memories of watching a FL washer was with my Aunts children watching her 1955 WH Laundermat in Pennsylvania when I was also a young child.

 

I have spent my adult life working on appliances for a living and I ave also been collecting and restoring vintage washers and dryers. 

 

I have three sets of vintage WH washers and dryers from there golden age, A pair of 1955 machines in great shape that was donated to our museum project by another member named John, we also have a TOL 1959 pair and a year ago I added a TOL harvest gold 1971 Westinghouse Front Load machines.

 

I have also had a 1966 Lady Kenmore Gas Combination W-D hooked up and running in my basement for the last 40+ years, I can't imagine how many hours of my life I have sat there on the floor and watched that machine run, I just never get tired of it.

 

At the museum we have 8 combinations hooked up and running, eventually we will have about twice that many, if you ever find you way to the Maryland side of DC please come and watch some run.

Hi Amy.  I watched Westyvision too.  TV wasn't very good back then.  The slant let the room light in. 

Then there were the machine noises right on schedule.  The show was never the same.  The splashing, the colors.   

 

Put a spoon of detergent in a cup of microwave water and it will duplicate the smell.  But don't microwave once it's mixed, it will foam over.  Like the time I put washer soap in the dishwasher.  Had to mop it up, floor was never that clean LOL.

I'm so sad for your loss...
It's not a video, but here's a couple pics of one ...I have six laundromat washers, an all of em need door boots... This particular machine is one I brought back from Aberdeen, S.D. I videoed that trip , and it can be found on this site too ( I found another portion of that on a cassette tape last year...) My mom noted in my baby book that I was " crazy about the washing machine...!"
