I have this beautiful 1972/1973 avocado green GE Americana behomoth for sale in Las Vegas. Everything works. My husband wants it out of the garage as quickly as possible.

That Is....

A J 795 - double oven with a lower P*7 self-cleaning oven, an exhaust hood, no Sensi-Temp. This was the MOL conventional Americana in '72; the TOL J 797 was basically the same thing, but with infinite-heat rotary switches replacing the pushbuttons, and Sensi-Temp included.

If you really wanted to go whole-hog, there was also the J 896 Versatronic version, where the lower oven was P*7 self-cleaning and with microwave capability as well. On that model, you lost the oven door window, to help contain microwave energy.

It's a nice range, and appears to have been well-cared-for. If you can find the right buyer, it ought to make someone pretty happy.

You do need to know that there are two potential drawbacks that could interfere with selling it quickly - two-story ranges like this one can't be used in kitchens with cabinets over the range space, unless the cabinets are altered.

The other is the color - Avocado is not very popular these days. However, the more you advertise it, the likelier it is that you'll find just the person who will "dig" it and take it out of your garage.

It will also help if you will name a price. Good luck, and thanks for posting it here!

The price is something I was hoping to get a clue from this site. Not sure at all of its worth. I saw one for sale on eBay a while back for around $600 but not sure if that's way off or not. Also wondering if eBay and Craigslist are the right places or if there's a collectors website I am unaware of. Thanks for all your info!

The $600 that eBay seller wanted was worse than way off - it was delusional. A lot of people ask a high price for fear of "giving something away."

I'm thinking that $100-$150 would be fair. $75-100 should get it out of the garage pretty quickly. Other members here may want to chime in and give their ideas as well.

Whatever asking price you choose to set, try to be flexible with people who show up with cash in hand and a vehicle capable of hauling the range away.
