Now this is interesting

I would be very interested if anyone has more information on this machine. We in the UK are very familiar with it as this design the first machine Hoover built in Britain. However, this one was made in Canada! Does anyone have any idea when this machine was on sale?

I always understood that this project was very much the baby of UK Hoover chairman Charles Colston, after he saw the design in the USA. I presume that this was in the 1930s and with WW2 intervening, we did not get it until 1948. Hence my interest in when it was on sale - certainly to my eyes it seems very primitative compared to the many wringer washers on the market and teh many automatics emerging in the late 1940s

Hoover Wringer Washer - The FIRST!!!

Yes as Al says someone needs to get this as it is the FIRST Hoover laundry appliance ever made!!!!

Nowthen, this is where it gets interesting, Hoover UK started building this model late 1947 and started selling Jan 1948, with the model number 0307.....now this machine is 0306....did it come before, was it tested there in Canada before here?? pity cant see the pulsator, the early models where made of metal, the later designs had the black pulsator that we know of today, although there seems to be a reflection in the tub which could be the metal pulsator...

It looks in good nic, a prize for one of you I`m sure!!!

Hoover Wringers in US/CA

So were these ever sold in the US? I've always been in love with these little things but I was under the impression that they were a UK exclusive. I've seen several instances of these in North America, one in CA, and one in California. I'd love to find one of these as they are like my holy grail of washers. I particularly favor the squared off, hand-wringer model 3102E as it's very slick with that SS tub and tidy packaging. I think I even have enough 110v twin tub parts to convert one over for use here.

I would like more info on these in the US though, and if they're even obtainable.

Mike, your machines are (as always) absolutely stunning.
