hello friends, the drycleaner here with a question about who has vintage hotwater tanks and similar items that hold water. I have a vintage return tank that is 100 years old in my drycleaning room downstairs, my friend gave it to me a few years ago on my request. it was in the attic of his house. he owns a huge vistorian mansion that was built in the 1800s. the tank has a company from utica n.y. written on it. I will try to post some pics if anyone is interested. also anyone with a vintage hotwater tank,I would love to see some pics. thanks the drycleaner

The appliance museum in Beltsville was given an ancient 30 gallon gas water heater with a Monel tank. It lasted for something like 30 or more years. Probably the reason it lasted is that it does not have a flue that goes up through the tank; the hot gases rise around the tank. It began leaking at the drain valve at the bottom. I don't know if it's the valve itself or the junction with the tank.
