Looking for an L5 I found these two Indesits: 1981 092AOI and a 1978 L6SIV, both need new bearings.

Hi Tony.
Welcome to the forums and congrats on finding two lovely old Indesits.
Glad I am not in your position though, of having to contemplate parting out that L6! Lovely looking machines, with our version being the L6SGBV.
Below is the 1979 'Which' magazine image of the UK version.
Good luck with the restoration(s) let us know how it/they go.

Gary, Indesit Washers, Dishwashers & Fridges were imported by Katz International Corporation (KIC) from the early 60's. The last washers sold here were the 663W models. I bought a new spider & Hub for the 092, although the old one still looks good after 29 years.

That was one of my very first complete restoration and it was one of the hardest to finish...
Look at my collecion how did I find my 092 and how the work was effective to bring it back to the working order
By the way... I shoudl replace the spider on mine too!

you lucky thing! Older Indesits are my favorite machines, especially the models that did the spin drain. Keep us posted on those lovely machines.

Indesit 092 AOI
First test run after replacing spider & hub, door boot & soap hose. I will have to replace the sump hose as well. BTW these machines are very quiet, bur very energetic.

Dream Machine?
The guy who gave me the 092 called & said that his daily driver (also 092) was leaking at the pump seal, after replacing the sump & bubble hoses. I paid him for the hoses & took the machine, which turned out to be a 1979 L8LI in mint condition.

WOW excellent find tony and excellent job on replacing the spider on the 092
But this new machine is getting closer to the classic Indesits i remember.......
Also it lookslike your having bloody good weather ;-).no need for high spin speeds there then ;-)

What a superb machine - have never seen an L8 in such detail before.
Congratulations on your new acquisition and really cannot wait to see more pics of it and read more on your restorations.
Although Indesit is much maligned today and made cheaper end machines back then, there is no doubt that these classic machines were built solidly and had a wonderful style about them.
Am over the moon about your new find - more piccies please.

Well done on getting such a lovely machine. One of my Aunties had the british version of the L8, my othet aunty having the L5. I loved the look of the L8 but it wasn't as fun to watch, it had high water levels but drained and spun, not like the L5 which had the spin drain. I am puzzled however about a video on youtube of the L8 that spin drains and has low water levels....I know for sure that my aunty's one did not.

My mums first automatic was like an L6 (identical except it had a sort of turqoise panel instead of red), that had an elctric pump in it, i know coz i blocked it washing my car mats in the machine and they disintergrated blocking it up

Was this your mums first automatic - the Indesit L6SGB.
The machine on the left is taken in my parents garage around 1983.
It was a family friends and had been replaced by a Hoover Electron 800 round door. My dad acquired it, repaired it and it saw about three years further use by an Aunt of mine.
It was in turn replaced by my parents Hoover 3236H Automatic De Luxe, which lasted until 1990, and then a Servis 308 which lasted about a year.

Hi Tony, congrats on the latest aquesitions, like many firms of old, Indesit produced some sturdy classic machines, look at the way the 092 is made, those metal cabinet top braces, large weights etc....the spiders where the weak point but they sold well over here...
That L6 is too good & classic to use as the donor machine IMHO..looking forward to seeing more pics!!!
