Spin Drain

Paul: The L6 has been parted out as it would cost too much to restore. The L7 (looks like an L5 with the controls moved to the front & timer on the right) was never sold here. We had L5, L6, L8 & L10 models.
Paulc: The L8 is deffo a spin drain - I had to replace the pump housing as the seal is not availlable seperately.

Ahh well. At least the L6 has been put to good use and it will help other machines come back to life.
Though, by the way you are finding vintage Indesits, a mint L6 will probably surface soon for you. I really hope it does - fingers crossed!

The Indesit L10.
I know these were sold in the UK too, but have never ever seen one. What was it?
Was it a simple development of the L8 i.e immediately recognisable as an upgraded L8, the way that the L8 is obviously an upgraded L6 or was it something completely different?

Be really interested to know.

Was that the machine with the BIO dial on it? My Grandma used to clean for a man who had an Indesit looked similar to the L6 but had programme dial, temp dial, bio dial and one rocker switch, I think the Bio dial set the length of time you wanted to soak for but this is going back to when I was 7 or 8 so it is a good few years ago. I do remember the machine had high wash and rinse levels and didn't spin drain.[this post was last edited: 11/16/2010-18:11]

Thats the machine.....apart from the facia was not blue, am pretty sure it was a silvery beige.

Hi all.

had a nice surprise e-mail from Nige (reversomatic) this morning, containing exploded diagrams of the Indesit L6SGBV, L7LGB, L8LGB AND ..... the L10LGB!

The L10LGB is deffo a three dial take on the standard L6 or L8 machine, though difficult to tell whether the diagram shows a neon light or a switch (component 17) and the powder drawer facia appears to have three banks of washing instructions on it.

Have had that same picture of the blue facia L-series machne, in my 'INDESIT unidentified' folder for the last couple of years. I suppose it could very well be the L10.

Any absolute confirmation off anyone very gratefully received.

Just been digging in old Which magazines and the line drawing below appeared in the November 1974 edition.

Its an Indesit L6SGBT...

L10LGB

I never saw an L10LGB, but remember seeing the 101 new in the early eighties. It fascinated me, as it had the usual rotary timer on the left and two sliders one above the other. One was for temp & the other for spin speed. Take a look at the motor attached and you will see that it appears to be a brush motor.

Hello all, i remeber the L10 well ,as years ago i sold a used one to a relative.Well when i say sold i think i got 2 bars of choclate for it.Paulc was right it had a metalic copper/bronze coloured facia and knobs.It could have been the first connection between Hotpoint and Indesit as they were an electronicaly speed cotroled machine fitted with G E C brush motor as used in Hotpoints of the time.The motor in previous picture is probably equivalent replacement, as all the ones i ever saw were fitted with a G E C motor.I think it was the first Indesit fast spin machine 800rpm,sold here.I vaugley remember there being a matching tumble dryer sold here, that i think was souced from Zerowatt..Docker that L8 looks great congratulations .Regards Nige.

Hi Nige.

From your description, I can safely say that I dont jave any recollections of an L10. Sounds like a smart looking machine though - ushering in bronze way before Hotpoint did.

Thanks again for the exploded diagrams you sent me - hope you dont mind me posting them here. Seems that there is a hotspot of vintage Indesits in South Africa, where I think they might be useful.

A very basic table of UK sold (hence the 'GB' and 'G' in many of the model numbers) Indesit and Hirundo models, as listed in the various years of 'Which'magazines.

The rough dates of the magazines are shown.

Hirundo models are in italics, underneath the Indesit model from which they are derived.

Unknown pieces of info are highlighted with grey shading and question marks and the table goes right upto the point at which the Generation Innovation and Generation 2000 machines were introduced, circa 1982.

Will post some pics of the machines shortly.

Any info gratefully received.

p.s the last two Hirundo models are place outside the table because I am not totally sure of the Indesit models on which they are based, though the 520rpm Hirundo will probably sit underneath the Indesit 099AOG.
