Launderess, You are probably only going to get so much heat out of a 120 volt dryer with the limit on wattage. This would would have a larger, heavier drum which would soak up more heat than the WP portable but would give large things more room to tumble. If this has the perforated drum, it might have the heating element in the outer tub which would provide radiant heat which could boost the speed of drying, but I don't know by how much. That 24" WP dryer is pretty damn well engineered. I did run my HOH on 120 for a month or two back in 1981 until I got the 220 volt wiring and it was not too slow.
