From an estate. Seller says "looks like new" - there's a wringer washer sitting the vicinity so the washer could be nice.

....a Maytag Wringer (round tub, sounds like gravity drain) for another $395 he described to be VGC. I thought the price to be rather high, but told him I've got several, wasn't looking for another. Anyone interested could contact him.

Good for you, John! Glad you got these lined up. I need to get down to to see your collection sometime this Spring - and you should come up again, too.
I agree, the price for the wringer is too high when we regularly see them for $50-100 all over the Midwest. Sellers might do a little research on CL before setting prices for these, they are far more common than many would imagine.

...for the positive feedback and comments from all. Greatly appreciate the kind words and agreed with all comments. Have always favored appliances that light up, so glad to have found them - and yes Greg - you're welcomed here and I'm looking forward to seeing your collection again. Kenny - I was leary about the price, until I saw them in person and then realized they were worth it to me. The lady of the house appeared to seldom use the dryer - as evidenced by probably 200 clothes pins to be sold, many clotheslines in the basement. Seemed like the type who continued to use her wringer washer (square porcelain tub Maytag, with Aqua trim and agitator) more so than the automatic. You can tell when someone really took care of things, and this lady's entire house was well maintained.
As the Estate Sale Rep said, "they are the best looking WD he's seen in years, almost as if from a time capsule". Very good condition. Washer is a suds saver and extremely heavy, really glad my friend was available to help. Both were operative in the house they were sold from, but as with anything this age, more will be known in days to come. Got a few pics while loading up, will get more posted soon.

Wow, John, they look great! How nice to find a set of machines that have been well-cared for - I think you're right that the former owner probably continued to use the wringer washer and line-dry the laundry.

Those are so AWESOME, and they look to be in amazing shape, CONGRATS John!! And suds saver too, wow!
Just an FYI, they are 1960 models, not 1959. The round "M" logo on the front panel started in 1960.

If I only had time....
I would leave right now and go back to DesMoines for the sale that starts today at noon. The wringer washer was in pristine condition but high ($395), I saw 2 Amana RR Microwaves ($15 each), vintage percolators that looked to have not been used, Corning Ware up the wazoo, Corning ware percolator, pans, beautiful bowls, stacks of linens, etc....and everything was in fabulous condition. The guy said they couldn't sell anything else until sale time. I didn't have time to go further thru the house, but can only imagine what else was upstairs.

Kevin - thanks for clarifying date of production. I was curious because the patent info on the back included a list of patents from 56 (for Canada) and 57 (USA).
Paul - agreed regarding usage - although there were WD connections at/near the kitchen, where the dryer was located - both washers were in the basement near the clothes lines and 4 containers of clothes pins. Large laundry sinks next to the SudsSaver and Wringer. Oddly, there were 2 agitators for the Wringer? One sitting in the sink and one installed and operative in the machine?
The lady was a class act for sure - everything in perfect order, paper work with notes, receipts, incredibly clean and meticulously cared for.
Hope to get the WD installed and more pics posted.

You guys are the greatest. The information, encouragement, and knowledge shared on this forum are priceless. I remember feeling like so many others have said, thinking no one else had a similar interest in "old appliances" and remember thinking there was no one to discuss things with that would appreciate it, and if you dared to tell a soul, it was with the idea they might think you were nuts. AW changed that for me, and I want to communicate how much I appreciate the sense of "belonging" that I've experienced.

thats a beautiful set. I love the styling of these Maytags'. I have a 101P from Chris I just love. They are fun machines with parts still available.

John, you're pair is beautiful. Her laundry room sounds like my mom's. Mom had a 1963 Frigidaire custom imperial pair in coppertone, she also had the square tub Maytag wringer which I now have. She would wash a good load of dress clothes in the automatic and drain the wash water into the Maytag and wash the rest of the clothes. Very seldom used the dryer, would hang outside in the spring, summer, and fall and in the basement in the winter. I still have her clothes pins. The clothes that needed ironing she would sprinkle with water and put them in a plastic bag that went into the refrigerator until ironing day. Those were the days and wonderful memories.

Again you'd think WWI was just on or recently ended by the prices some want for conventional washers. Rarely is anything listed for < $100 with even clapped out heaps of rust wanting $150-$200 if not more.
