Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Missed a lot this winter. Lots of catching' up to do.

I think I  read recently in one of  the active threads that  you have a Maytag. Did I read right ?

If so, would you direct me to the thread that tells the story. I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks, Doll!

hi mickeyd!!!

yes, i did buy a maytag center dial model: GA208
(2-speed, standard tub) washer.

i actually bought it from some guy, who's parents had it in a storage unit and were wanting to sell it. i only texted with the guy and had my dad & cousin, go meet the guy at the storage unit to pick it up for me. it was in california (where my dad & cousin live) and i was here in arizona.

they picked up the maytag washer for me and my cousin held it at his house until my dad was coming to arizona, about a month later, and he was going to bring the washer to me then.

i don't think i ever said how i found this washer or got it here. but here is the first thread i made about it, so that you can read about it.
it is Thread Number: 49204

i was asking alot of questions in that thread cuz i wanted to make sure that i could use my maytag without any hang ups or problems.

i hope you get a kick out of my "naiveness" about washing machines!!!
heck, i'm still pretty naive about washers!!

So glad to hear, Hippiedoll

Got a little anxious when I saw your name thinking maybe you didn't get your Maytag automatic and felt bad because I'm up to something later tonight about Maytags, but now I'm relieved after reading your interesting story and so happy to hear you got one. I'll check out the thread later after I get finished with this Spring rebirth of washer stuff.

thanks mickeyd....

hmmmmmm, ok mickeyd now you've got me curious....

i do have my maytag GA208 automatic washer. and i really do like it, but i am thinking about "upgrading" to an A806, just for the versatility of being able to have & choose a "GENTLE" wash cycle with a "NORMAL" spin. which is not an option available on my GA208. so, i have to keep an ear out & catch the washing cycle when it is spinning & switch it to "NORMAL" when it is spinning. and hope i remember to switch it back to "GENTLE" when it starts filling up for the rinsing. or else it agitates on "NORMAL" during the deep rinse. :o/
and of course, the BIG tub on the A806 doesn't hurt either, to have as an extra option.

thanks ovrphil....

for the vote of confidence.

i've picked up, what i have cuz it's been pretty easy. but i definitely dread if i should come across a more complicated problem with my maytag. then i would probably be so lost!!! let's just hope that day doesn't come!!!

You're welcome!

I hear ya, Hipppiedol. I use gentle agitation with normal spin quite a bit. So now you can work  your charm & Karma  to find an 806.

All the buttons give you infinite choices, and they're so much fun both to play with and experiment with, creating unusual new cycles.

You GO, Girl !!!!!

806 is the way to go.

thanks mickeyd....

at first, when i was just wanting the bigger washtub for larger loads & blankets, i was on the huntdown for:
first, an A608
(cuz it has the exact same washing options/choices like my A208) just that it has the larger sized tub for the "EX LARGE" wash loads.
or as a second, i was willing to go with an A606
(for the fact that it had the larger sized washtub for the "EX LARGE" wash loads and was still a 2 speed) maybe it wasn't as high on my priority list to find as the A608 because it had 1 less button on the temperatures. but if i really think about it, it's not really that big of a deal to me anyways).

but since i've found out that the A806 can have different wash & spin speeds, that is probably the winning ticket for me to really want to go with an A806.

although, i am seeing that my A208, can really handle a nice sized load and i am very impressed with it's capabilities. i am happy with my A208. but if the chance comes up to "upgrade", to an A806, than i would definitely try to get it. just for the fact that i don't think i would ever use the slow spin, unless i was doing something super light & thin.

but for now, i am smiling about & with my GA208!!!

gentle wash with fast spin

Christina,

Not sure if you knew, but I believe all center dial two speed maytags provide fast spin on the permanent press cycle regardless of the wash speed selected. I know that my 806 does.

You will waste some water, but it may help you not to keep running to the machine to change the speed setting.

Good luck finding a pair of 806's - I love mine!

easy!!

no, i did not know that the permanent press cycle, on the center dial maytags, had a fast spin. even if you had the "GENTLE" speed button pressed in. i thought if it was in "GENTLE", the spin would be slow???

thank you sooo much for the information easy. i really do appreciate you letting me know that, no matter what speed you have the maytag set at for washing, in the "PERMANENT PRESS" cycle, you will get a "FAST" spin!!!

that is GREAT to know!!! and i really appreciate you messaging & letting me know (and so do my ears, and neck, and legs!!!).
ha ha ha......

something new i learned about my GA208, that makes me like it even more!!!

;o)
