I remember that dryer on the floor at our Branch of Rich's in the early 60s. Norge could think of more settings for 1 drying temperature, two input levels and no heat than almot anybody except monkey wards, but then they had a relationship so it figures.

RE: missing door gasket: I guess one grand day the door opened and the powerful fan blew the load of tumbling laundry out with such force that it tore the door gasket right off. Actually, with the fan blowing the laundry against the front of the drum, the inside shoulder of the door gaskets often wore down to nothing and had to be replaced. Other than that, it looks very nice for 40+years and it's electric, too. We don't have one of those. Thank you again.

Very nice dryer! The design of the control panel is really cool!

Now that's one I wouldn't want to use with a missing door gasket! (In case you were wondering, the small lettering between "Norge" and "Dryer" say "Lintmatic") ;-)

Norma Norge is home and safe. Forty + years in the basement and not a spot of rust on her bottom. She is on her back in the back of my van with her feet sticking out. Even that sounds like the 60s. I will have to make some foam gaskets for around the lint filter and she is at the perfect height and position for me to do that. Maybe one of the GE sisters will have to go into the warehouse to make room. OR, since I killed off most of the plants, one or both can slip into the shop to make room for their aunt Jetta GE born in 1954 who is currently cooling her heels and everything else on John's screened-in porch. Then she and her two nieces, Tiny (1968) and Big Tiny (early 1980s)can commune if they wish. One reason I look forward to cold weather is that it means another season of new electric dryers and inside drying.

YAY, I'm glad you were able to save Ms. Norma Norge Tom and she's in such good shape! Who is Ms. Jetta GE and is she a w or is she a d?

Jetta is a 1954 GE dryer with the dial on a plastic escutcheon in the middle of the back splash and warnings in all of the instructions to use the lower range of suggested drying times to avoid fabric damage. She sounds HOT! We had the washer too, but I don't know if John saved it. It had horrible things wrong with it; broken this, locked up that, terminal rust. I still thought the top with lid and center dial timer with Hot/Warm settings at opposite ends of a small back and forth switch on top of the timer mounting, should have been saved, but I do not know if it was. It was definitely pre-FilterFlo.

Oh my gosh, I love the old GE stuff. I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight for thinking about the passing of Ms. Jetta GE's mate.

The GE washer is safely hidden / buried in the museum collection with John now sounding like the broken clutch is nothing at all to fix.
