It needs saving, pricey though, is that agitator different to the UK made ones?? it doesnt look like the h-Zone flared type??

Leon and I have both tried speaking to her as at that price it is a bit ridiculous. Its been on Ebay for over a month or more now. We've offered up to $200 and she has rejected the offer.
She runs an antique shop north of city and beleives that she's found the true value and wont settle for anything less.
Leon was at the same Auction she bought it at, and she only paid $100, so she's being quite greedy.

The is the 2nd time she's had it on ebay and i also suspect there were some 'fishy' selling techniques happening.
I'm passing on this one.....i'm sorry, it's just not worth that kind of money.

Yes, i was outbid at the original auction.
As for ebay, a long story. Basically, i believe there was some 'shill bidding' involved to increase the price above the maximum that i was prepared to pay.
After she didn't get the $350.00 that she wanted, the item appeared back on ebay less than 2 weeks later! The explanation received as to why it was being re-listed was quote: "the lady who bid on the item bids on 'cute things' and has a problem. Her aide told me she doesn't need a machine and couldn't afford it either"!
Sorry.....i just don't buy it! Not when on the SAME day she was questioned as to why it was being re-listed, the seller gives positive feedback to the buyer for an item that she never received payment for?????
I expressed my concerns to ebay but they didn't see any evidence of shill bidding, according to them anyway.
So, as far as i'm concerned, it can stay in her shop for another few months (it's been 6 months already) until she is ready to be a bit more accomodating.

It is highly unlikely that someone will buy a large, old electrical appliance for regular use from an antique shop...a toastermatic or mixmaster, maybe, but not a 45yr old washing machine (ok, generally guys)
...I will be stunned if she has sold it before Christmas and if she does, it will be at a much reduced price...the $200 mentioned earlier seems more than fair and gives her a 100% mark-up

I agree with what you say.
The thing is, the shop is not actually an 'antique' store per say....it's just a Secondhand Store where she has a mix of old and new in it (mostly newish) items that she bought from the public trustee auctions....and i know because the stickers from the auctions are still on all the items!
The store itself is just a hodge podge of items everywhere, no real store signage (just a very amateur painted sign on the window) and no proper set up.
She also bought a Wilkins Servis wringer which god knows how much she wants for that too!

The bigger 'garage' is a strong possibility. The unit i have been renting for the past 5 years is up for sale and my lease expires in July, so i am actively looking for a place. While i can't afford to buy a place right now, i'm defintely looking for a place that has a 'proper' decent sized garage where i could properly display my collection (or most of it!)
As to the bigger income....well, always working on that one!

So Leon may I ask if you actually saw this machine up close and personal? I'm just curious - as Sandgate is not too far from my home...
I too am surprised as this sellers actions as I saw the 'beast' only listed a little while back - then it disappeared and then reappeared again... Very very odd... Greedy I'd say is putting it lightly...
And the only reason I didn't post on Autowasher org about this machine was because I thought this price was completely ludicrous...!
Shame though - as I agree with ronhic - this machine deserves a loving home - not some old mole (excuse my language) who just wants lots of cash for it...

Yes, i actually saw this machine in person at the public trustee auction before placing my silent bid....it's in very good working condition.
I'm actually no longer keen on attending those auctions as my impression is that she will always be there, considering she also bought a Wilkins Servis wringer that was up for auction a few weeks ago.

So - May I ask how you find out about these auctions? We live on the northside - I work in the valley and the other half in Southbank... Because of the commute - we rarely read the news (Other than online) nor get a chance to watch it...
I'm assuming these are listed in the local papers?
Also - you have an impressive collection of washers - some of which I've never seen before - where on earth do you manage to come across these???

The auctions are part of the Public Trustee of Qld and i found them by accident. Here's their site below. They hold deceased estate auctions every fortnight on a Monday morning.
As for my collection, most of it has come from interstate. How i have managed to acquire them has been through a combination of advertising, flyer mail outs and last year from a couple of interviews on ABC radio.
If i do end up moving soon and can properly display the machines, i'll have to invite yourself, Craig, Nathan and his partner Michael over for a look. I'll keep you informed.

Didn't kinda spot that difference in Agi..I wonder if it was a pre-Hi-Zone agi..ie same as the Superheat, although something is telling me that was a bigger diameter agi..?
Most of the machines are in there new home now, and only a few remain at my old house near Guildford (Parnall, keymatic, EE's)
They are due for a run over the next couple of weeks so will hopefully take some pics then.
