Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Look at those retro lunchboxes.... and the dust on them. Would like to know the story here. Vacant, abandoned apartment building perhaps. I wonder how long it's been sitting there.

Estate auction which means owner or owners of property have passed on.

There's lots more interesting vintage (or ancient, *LOL*) items from same auction.

Property where these vintage items seems a hot nasty mess. Going by condition of things it has been empty or maybe abandoned for some time. This sometimes happens when an estate takes ages to settle, decedent died intestate and thus public administrator becomes involved and so forth.

Someone local or whatever is stalking this auction and bidding on vintage appliance and other things regardless.

Oh Wow

OMG Thank you for that Launderess. It's like stepping back in time to a 1950ish movie set and then into a 1970s office. That's so awesome.
It just amazes me when this kind of stuff is just found, sitting somewhere like. Has been for a long time.

In auction copy for each listing of "vintage" appliances, old furniture and so on you see in description location indicators (upstairs, rear).

Looking up building by plugging in address into Google maps my guess is vintage items are in an upstairs apartment located above law office. All that dust and debris is largely plaster or wall board that is coming down or disintegrating.

Person or persons may have lived up there at some time, but it doesn't seem as it was inhabited for a long time going by state of things. Indeed seeing all those empty beer cans/bottles, cigarette cartons seems as if place was used as a squat, or last tenant left and no one bothered clearing things out, well until now.

Bonus points!

Just up block on other side of parking lot from attorney's office is former Wabash Railroad Passenger Station.

Norfolk & Western Railroad used it until 1979 when it became vacant. Local couple purchased and donated building to town of Huntington, Indiana. There is a RR ROW that still runs behind station and active grade crossing just above so assume trains still run, but perhaps only freight.

Above door of building you can clearly see "WABASH*

How cool is that?

1- no, just no. I can't imagine wanting any of those items enough to pull them out of that filthy upstairs apartment/whatever it is. Amazingly, somebody wants the fridge and oven enough to bid on them. They are currently at a dollar.
2- when was the last time Schlitz came in those cans or was even sold. Can you imagine what's in that closed fridge? It's full body suit/respirator time up there.
3- hold your phone sideways more often if you want us to see what you are trying to sell.

I agree the posted refrigerator is a Kelvinator, as we had one like that in our basement when I was a kid. It is possibly a 1940-41, or a 1945 model, based on the trim shown.

The man who passed was much younger than I expected; though it was going to be someone in their 90's. Sounds like he was an interesting man.

That apartment is messy and dirty, but I've seen a lot worse. Currently I and several other members of historical society are cleaning out a horder's house, and that apartment doesn't look to come anywhere near what we're dealing with. We can't even access some rooms until we get others cleared out.

Oh I dunno....

We've seen similar or worse here on the group. Sometimes one has to look beyond certain things and at big picture. That is if said vintage appliance isn't exactly easy to find, then what other options are there?

Over years have sat sitting looking at items for sale online that caused one to begin to itch and rush to take a shower. *LOL* That and comment if one were going to collect would not only want danger money, but would be fully vaccinated before going and wear a hazmat suit.

gold and diamonds are free...if you are willing to look and dig for them...get your hands dirty for a bit.

If you want to buy them all shined up and clean, you'll pay the fees for others to have done the work.

"They are currently at a dollar."

These sort of auctions aren't like fleaPay. Especially for larger items such as appliances things are usually offered where is, as is and winning bidder must come collect in person. Thing usually must be shifted on or by a certain date or winning bidder may forfeit not just money paid, but item as well.

As such as with most other auctions you normally see only locals which can put a limit on prices.

This seller is offering shipping but I'd be quite leery.

Usually with HBid when shipping is offered it's by a third party that seller has nothing to do with. You agree to such terms when bidding which means after payment of item and it's collected or dropped off at shipper that's it. If item arrives damages, never arrives, or whatever you have no other recourse than to deal with shipper. Seller does not nor will not usually get involved which includes any sort of refund.
