I thought I would share with you some Simpson advertisements I found in Trove, the website of the National Library of Australia, which is in the process of making national newspapers and magazines such as the Womens Weekly available online. Having a good go at Hoover in this advertisement.

Hoover and Simpson had the largest market share between them, unchallenged till the early 90's when the revolutionary, and well marketed, Fisher and Paykel came along to steal their thunder.

Simpson Genesis.

Was marketed as being revolutionary and in some ways it was, the transmission, motor and washbowl/agitator design were all new for Simpson and was a move away from the previous American style design to a more Japanese style design.

The Simpson 86

Hey Ash

 

The Simpson 86 had a printed circuit board coupled with a mechanical timer, not as complicated as the '89.

 

The 86 & 87 were only on the market for a very short time due to quality issues, even shorter than the Fabulous 89
