I've been down in Ogden while Hubby is yet again away in Brazil and today's job was to clean up and try to de-clutter the 'Ogdenville Appliance Museum', located above the garage.    

 

I concluded that a:  I am, in fact, a hoarder  and  b: dang, I have some really cool old mixers!

 

I decided to take a break and play with one of 'em...

I picked this 1937 (possibly 1938) GE Hotpoint stand mixer.   I've had it for years (it moved to Ogden in 2007) but I don't remember ever using it!  For shame...

I chose a sponge layer cake recipe.   Egg whites in the large bowl, yolks in the small one.   I love the tapered design of some of the really early mixer bowls!

Success!  I'd like to try a side-by-side test of these older small-beater machines with later models.  Well one, day when I have the time... Oh, wait...   LOL
