Now I am not known for being a huge vacuum fan, but right around the corner from me on my way to work, I saw the following at the curb and could not let them pass. It was coming very close for the garbage man to come around, so I guess you can say RESCUED! Below is what I found, but keep in mind these were picked off the curb at 8:45am and I had to be to work by 9am, so no cleanup time yet.

Hoover:

There were two of these as you can see in the pic, but the one in the back is in worse condition and missing the bag. It may have to serve as a parts for this better one, unless both clean up well and work. Presenting the Eureka's:

OOH!  Good save,  Brian!!  You may be on your way to a whole new collection here...

They look in pretty good shape - I will hazard a guess the Hoover's bag is not the original one, but wow, the Regina is very cool!

Hey Brian, VERY cool save!   I'm the first to admit I'm not much into vacuums, but those older, and I mean OLDER ones are really cool!

So now the questions is, are you going to start a "new" collection with these, or are you going to pass them on??   I may be interested if you are moving them on.

Kevin

Good question Kevin

I am not 100% sure at the moment. I can say I really like the Regina & the Electrolux the most, and will probably hold on to those. The Eureka's I am still debating, and the Hoover I will probably pass on after the novelty of it wears off. If you were not interested in that Hoover, I do have a special member in mind.

What one was it that you were interested in?

Brian:  If I was be able to choose, it would be the Electrolux and the Hoover.   But since it sounds like the Electrolux isn't going anywhere..... I will happily put my name in for the Hoover, whenever you are ready.   BTW, is that Hoover similer to the one Fred was using in the Obsession show?

And yes, that Regina is pretty nifty too!

Paul:  That would be really great IF I were to get the E-lux, but it sounds like Brian likes it too much!

Yea sorry, looks like an awesome Electrolux. You can always pass off those tools to me Paul! lol

Ok Kevin, I can put your name in on the Hoover for being the next owner. I don't know how long I am going to like it for, but as soon as I am ready, your next in line!

I really like the look of the Regina and the Eureka sure looks pretty similar in style. It's amazing the Eureka came with the extra tools. Now that was rare & unique!

I wonder if the person that lived there was a dealer or a small collector of sorts?

Anybody have any info as things to look at on the vacuums, such as oiling, what type of oil, key things to prevent electrical issues, other than the obvious checks of the cords? I am really anxious to try the Regina out tonight if possible.

I wanted to wash the bags a bit to get off the old house dirt and to clean off any smells from the previous home. Any tips on that? For you WP/KM Calypso owners, I was thinking a hand-wash/gentle cycle. I have a small front loader as well as a 1-18 or WP BD with Super Surgilator I was considering, but worried about ruining the bags. Which would be the most gentle but effective?

Brian,  I still have your address!!  I'll dig the tools out of the 'mess of vintage stuff also know as the garage' (as hubby calls it) this coming weekend.  I don't have the extension tubes, but you may be able to scare them up at a thrift store...

it all started, on the basket ball court.......Brian was hangin' with his Homo Homies....and in this one thriftstore was the handheld DirtDevil...a few shelves down was the attachments........had to have it, couldn't live another day without it!.....

you start with one, and the rest will follow!...........wait and see

Brian....these are for floor care.....no other "needs" apply!....LOL

Hey hey hey!

No ideas Mister Martin! I have no room as it is lol, at least perhaps these can hang on the wall like John (combo52's) vacuums in his warehouse.

I cannot wait to try these out!

Thank you very much Paul! I appreciate the effort and kindness.

PS: Too bad these aren't wet vacs for those washer mis-haps, you know, like someone's Unimatic on TLC filming day. Oops!

You found some pretty sweet machines! The Regina is especially uncommon. The hoovers and Eurekas not quite so much, but still hard to find today.

Enjoy your new machines!
