Following on from our visit to Steves (SESteve) new vintage washerroom cabin in April (see link for thread) we had an invite back this weekend for a catchup and repair session before major renovations in their fab home takes place and to install some dexion type racking allowing better use of the older heavier machines..
Richard and myself landed Thursday evening so we could make an early start Friday and hopefully crack it before the weekenders arrived !!
It started off looking like this after hawling all the stuff out the way for the racking...
With the wooden posts removed we can move over from main wall three stacked washing machine and dryer sets that are going to be sited on the east wall...
so now residing are a Servis Quartz set, a Hoover A3060 set and a Hotpoint 18580 matched stacked set.
With the east wall done we can start to build the racking for the main wall, Steve installed a second layer of plastic drainage piping using the glue method which I think I would use next time around, rather impressed with how simple it was to fit...
More shuffling and "Where is the Bendix Going" ...we do have the option of putting washers on the shelf as well so we choose the solid induction models that tend now to bounce around on their suspensions.
Oh where is that mallet when ya need it...the racking slots together easily its just our measurements we need to check twice making sure we have enough clearance to move stuff around easily with a second layer fixed atop..
Now for the West wall which will be housing twinnies side on underneath and tumble and spin dryers on the first shelf and another shelf over for displaying powders etc..
Finally finished the west wall early evening so just in time for cocktails, mixed by Kevin whose hospitality is 2nd to non all over the weekend and said drinks delivered on a Hoover SpinaRinse spinner lid tray..Many Thanks Kevin x
Just time to pop out and see the latest plane taking off every 2 mins from Londons airports, I have a crick in my neck from looking up at these wonders especially the A380`s and Dreamliners just hovering above...
A bright new early Saturday morning and we await the train passengers, Alistair arrived late Friday night, so its a lovely hot cuppa on a bright sunny day in a wonderful calm oasis of colour...
On the "Cheadle Chuffer" from Manchesterford to London Euston is Mikey with Lord Marchmain of Lincoln aka Darren steaming down the east coast in his carriage from Stackton Tressell, calling at Trimley St Mary, Morphy Richards, St Mary Cray and finally arriving at London Euston onwards to Hooverville, No porters where required during this experience !!
And here we all are ready and rareing to go for a cuppa, left to right, Steve (SESteve) Richard (Ricky50) Mikey (MikeyMatic) Alistair (Vacbear58) and Darren (SlowSpin66)
And what better than a lovely slice of Battenburg brought by Mikey and homemade by his partner - Cheers Matt totally yummy and didn't last long !![this post was last edited: 8/23/2017-16:38]
Repairs where also on the cards, from the previous thread you saw us taking apart the AEG Lavalux spinner unit to install new bellows and to use epoxy filler on a slit in the outer can - Many Thanks to Louis and friends in Germany for providing links to diagrams etc..
Followed by a creamy chicken surprise, new potatoes and seasonal veg, unfortunately I didn't get a pic of that as too busy enjoying the meal, drinks and company !!
And for desert we have homemade by Darren & Al Pear n Chocolate tart and Cherry Bakewell Tart.
All that needs to be done before we retire for drinks, chat and midnight washing is to load the Boschette - one can see the glass milk bottles fit a treat,
Marvin the Milkman is going to be pleased with the performance along with Hyacinth...
Midnight washing in the 70`s vintage Miele, these are the classic styling by Miele that we all remember, a that touch of Orange that makes them so unique. The inner door has an instruction panel and the controls offer total flexibility, the spin speed selector looks like nothing else of today !!
All we need to do now is switch off for tonight and retire for drinks and banter until some time before sunday breakfast ha ha, "Pass the Paracetamol Morag"..
Today we are joined by Steve on the lhs who has brought down a vintage Hotpoint Toploader that was recently on ebay but didn't complete and weeks later the seller offered it to Darren, if you had seen the state of it no-one rushed for it and if we did it was only to be possibly be for parts...
Its been stood standing in a barn for many ears, surprisingly the under lid programme guide is very good, it was completely seized so with the back n top off and water sloshing through the lads finally nudged it into life and it sounded smoother than many of our own such as was the surprise to everyone, as you can see it will have a full restore as this model is the later model with interlock to Steves NIB model coming up...
