I went to an estate sale yesterday (not my company) and found this lovely G.E. Dishwasher. Sadly it isn't for sale as it is being sold with the house. Looks like it hasn't been used for much more than storage and the racks seem to be in good shape. I was told to just keep an eye on the place and ask someone working there or moving in. Such a shame as we all most likely know it's fate. The house also still had the matching wall oven. I'll keep an eye out, but I feel chances of rescue are slim.

Forgive the grainy cell photos!

I'll leave any comments about 'wood' aside.... LOL  I figured that I could swap the turquoise panel from my kinda-working 59 Princess onto a similar machine with a lid.

It does look like it's in very good condition.

Looks like the 1959 Princess. Notice that the blue and red dial is gone and the grille is, I think, unique to that year. It has the magnetic detergent cup (which I still get a kick out of, thank you very much Mr. Nunn); I think that changed with the 1960 model year.

Some of the estate sale people that run these things can be downright rude and unhelpful when it comes to old appliances. When the sellers have made up their minds to sell old appliances with the house ( the laws concerning what appliances must be included in a house sale are different in each state) it's usually because they don't want to bother with removal and replacement and since I've been there before I can understand it. I usually ask, politely, for the name of the real estate broker and will ask them to tell the new buyers that there is someone interested in something that they will probably get rid of.

If this had been an Empress I'd be in the car and driving down to Virginia instead of writing this post.

Hmm..

.
maybe just jote down a quick note and put it inside the washer in a conspicious place.
I see the dial just not the red. Maybe rubbed off or on a different setting.

LOUD !!!!! isn't the word.

Some of those old DWs sounded like a saw mill in operation. Others, like a jet taking off. I remember playing in a cardboard box in my aunts kitchen. The box was my race car and the DW noise was my engine. I wish I could find stuff like that down here. Hopefuly someone gets those pieces before the scrapper.

Salvation!

YAY! Nothing they install will wash as much as well as quickly. Those machines are actually much quieter when loaded full of plates because the plates sent the water up to the insulated tub cover instead of against the sides of the single wall tub.
