David (partscounterman) and his partner Dennis came home Minnesota to visit friends and relatives. They stopped over this morning for a private wash-in. We had lots of fun and it was great to meet Dennis as well...

What fun! But which washer is that behind Dave in photo #2? I want to say the Easy, but my monitor does not display pics clearly... Isn't that where the Asko should be?

The most fun we had!
Our trip back to Minnesota was such a whirlwind of activity, but Dennis says that visiting the "Washer Temple" was the best part of our trip. Robert and Neil's house is beautiful and full of all the lovely vintage things that Dennis and I love to see. Good thing Dennis didn't see all the vintage magazines and catalogs upstairs or we would still be there! Robert had saved up his weeks worth of laundry, then let us choose the machines to used. I darn near passed out! We ran a load in the Philco Automagic, the ultra splashy Kelvinator (omigawd I love that machine!) the souped-up Super Unimatic (unbelievable!), the aqua 1958 GE, and the pink Lady Kenmore. Robert even grabbed a bathroom rug to wash in the Westinghouse laundromat. The machine that is over my shoulder in picture 2 is an Easy- I would have liked to have tried that one as well, but time did not permit
Robert also ran the "new" Thor-O-Matic for us, althought it has a small leak still, so it isn't ready for real laundry yet. Dennis says he really enjoyed the machines but he especially liked the collection of vintage detergent boxes downstairs and the vintage food packages on display in the kitchen.
I said I wanted to see vintage washers when I got back to Minnesota and I was not disappointed!

Oh, today we must go back to Maui. I cannot wait to get home but am not looking forward to the plane trip. Hasn't anyone perfected the transporter yet-like on Star Trek where they simply stand on an 8 inch coil burner and are radio beamed someplace else? Airline seating must be designed by the same folks that brought us Abu-ghaib and Gitmo. I need to be sedated!

Wow - what a toursit stop - Robert's House of vintage! You guys had so much fun, you probably left Robert's speachless. Thanks for sharing the photos ~

David, looks like you guys had a lot of fun washing!!! Those Pink Lady Kenmores and Turquoise GE are just beautiful! What did you think of the Powersurge (aka Vubulator) action? That is one machine I really want to see wash in person!
Peter yes that is the Easy where the Asko used to be. The control board on the Asko died so it was time to pitch that machine. But I did save the detergent dispenser and detergent flush flume and hose from the Asko and I installed in onto the side of my Super Unimatic, so now the computer adds the detergent right into the outer cabinet after the initial line flush and into the recirculation system. Its fun to watch the detergent go into the wash from the outside of the washer...
