Well.....

I find the current version of Ajax liquid to have a very, very "sweet" floral scent. Not really pleasant.

I used to use Era, and it had a heavy, fairly nasty "chemical?" scent.

I like the regular all liquid scent a great deal.

Currently have a box of "Springtime" Surf/all Not my first choice, but not bad, either.

I wish the manufacturers would do a "fast fade" scent, but that's not likely to happen any time soon.

Sometimes, when I am in an anti-scent mood, I'll poke the extra rinse button. Not always.

As much as I like Mexican detergents, I would have to agree with Austin in that Foca is very overpowering. Ariel too is a bit over the top for me as well.
 
My vote...

It has to be the Costco/Kirkland Laundry detergent, liquid softner and dryer sheets labeled "Clean Fresh Scent". I do not smell what's so clean and fresh about it. Too sickly sweet for me. They were fine till they changed the fragrnace. I used to use their laundry products all the time. So now I stick to Tide and Gain (Tropical flavor) and Downey and Snuggle. Regular scented Bounce for the dryer. I do use Ariel con OxiAzul for the white towels and such.

My two pence

One has been using Sears pouwder for ouver a fortnight nouw and it has become one's new favourite.

One mostly has trouble with fabric soufteners--the odours are simply ouverpouwering! Generally, one purchases Douwny in the ouriginal April Fresh scent and that suits one a real treat. One tried Gain at the suggestioun of anouther member and one felt suffoucated.

Really, one has never found anouther detergent whouse scent can coumpare with Fels Naptha. Alas, nouw that the shops no lounger carry the pouwder, one feels pousitively bereft.

I agree with whoever pointed out that the Mexican detergents have an unpleasant smell sometimes. As much as I like to use full-phosphate Ariel, it's smell (which doesn't seem to translate to the clothes that much) is almost nauseating to me.

As a returned favor for a favor, a guy I know at work is getting me a free box of ECOLAB professional laundry detergent with phosphates. Will report on how it smells. I think Laundress reported that it was sickly sweet. We'll see.

I hate the smell of all detergents out today.that's why I use Suavatel fabric softner The one in the yellow bottle sold at "Wally World".It gets the clothes soft and leaves a lingering smell that isn't as harsh as other brands.It is made by CP (Colgate Palmolivive)and I am not sure if it's available up north.The detergent I currently use is Gain with bleach(liquid).
 
I have found the non-ultra fabric softeners to be much more acceptable smelling than the more popular ultras. The non-ultra Snuggle flavous are particularly nice, especially the green one.
 
Scented Dryer Sheets

I have to hold my breath when I smell the nauseating scent of hot dryer sheets exhausting from the dryer. It is repugnant.

very clean

As a one off I used tescos own brand called bio, it does a great job on every thing. Every thing was very clean it didnt over suds, The smell was a fresh and not prefumey at all, I would say a clean smell.

I used to use dreft for twin tubs, but the agitator in my t l did whip up a lot of suds, I found my self setting the machine for another rinse and spin possibly 2 times.

As for softner I use comfort Creme with sweet almond oil, its a good softness and smells beutifull. But I dont tumble dry as the smell evapourates
