Try to return them anyway. They're usually pretty good about taking back returns...just go to the returns desk, not a manager.

Unfortunately, with linens, there are few bargains nowadays.

suds, how sad. i had been wanting to post about some towels i bought at walmart as well. yes, im poor, i shop at walmart. im not ashamed. (lol)

about five years ago when i moved o bought some martha stewart towels (made in usa) at kmart. your basic towels, i thought they were ok. then just recently i bought some similar walmart towels (not made in usa, forget where) and they make the martha stewart towels seem like luxury linens. the walmart ones are still horribly linty even after dozens of washes and at least two hems have come undone as well.

im starting to suspect walmart does not sell top-quality merch?

It seems that Wal-Mart used to hype the fact that a lot of the things they sell are made right here in the good ole' USA. But I haven't seen any of that line of advertising out of Wal-Mart in quite some time.
Perhaps they have yielded to the dark side.

Bentonville!

Hi:

Go to www.walmart.com and get their corporate number. Call their main office in Bentonville, AR, and REPORT THAT MANAGER. You got a rude, unhelpful response, and corporate needs to know. One word of advice on dealing with Wal-Mart corporate- they often try to have the manager call you to discuss the problem. Make it clear in your call that a call from the manager isn't going to resolve the problem, that the manager IS the problem. If they disregard you and have the manager call you anyway, hang up on him or her and call Bentonville back. You do have to get sort of firm with them sometimes.

Wal-Mart is selling some very dicey quality these days, and the sooner they understand that consumers aren't going to put up with it, the better. Having the hem fall out of a sheet on the first wash is unacceptable at ANY price point.

China-Mart does it again-----

Doesn't surprise me a bit. The quality of the merchandise at China-Mart is awful. I do buy a few things from them but mostly stay out of there. I have been boycotting Chinese made goods as much as possible---I'm sick of their trash.

'Ta-ra-get gets my business now, although I still have to check all the labels!

another reason to

not buy merchandise at Wal-Mart. I personally think the quality is garbage. Certainly the store manager should do right by you SUDSMAN. I wouldn't stop calling and going up the chain of command until I got a full refund.

I do like Wal-Mart "Neighborhood Market" for groceries and will gladly spend my money there, but that's about it.

If you want to buy great quality sheets, Costco, under their Kirkland Brand, sells wonderful sheets. I bought 600 thread count sheets for my king sized bed for only $75.00. Make sure though you buy Pima cotton instead of Egyptian cotton. Egyptian cotton needs to be ironed and has a tendency to pill up.

Also Overstock.com has some great deals on sheets as well.

Good Luck and keep us posted on the outcome.

I also would never shop in that store again....

This is precisely why my partner and I do alot of shopping at Nordstrom. The customer service is second to none and they stand behind every product that leaves their store. I have never bought clothing from Nordstrom that wasn't high quality or made in the USA...

The U.S. domestics (sheets, towels & bedding) business has taken a beating. Many familiar historic brands/mills are no longer. The imports from low cost offshore far-flung areas have the North American consumer dollar.

That said, it could be you've just received a sample that was not well sewn and not indicative of all. Many years ago, I had a so-called 'better' quality fitted sheet where the elastic band became unsewn during its 1st wash. Maas Brothers-Jordan Marsh cheerfully replaced it. The replacement was fine.

Thanks to you all for your comments

The main problem is that we bought 25 dozen of them (300) and they are now telling me that they offer no warranty to instutional accounts.. This was from Bentonville Direct..Which I called after the store manager told me they came apart beacuse we washed them wrong! How the hell do you wash sheets wrong?

Lol.... Yank the instatuional accoutn away... Neither one of us shop at crap mart unless we have to or i am going to the bank (which is in wal mart).. ANd usualy thats only for food or misc items.. Our house is Target, Kohles and Goodys...

I bought a queen-size set of sheets during the Thanksgiving day-after retail frenzy for $12. The fabric felt nice but the stitching quality was absolute junk. After the second wash, half of the top hem on the flat sheet was gone. It's still in my sewing basket for repair ;-) I'll probably end up making it a dropcloth...

China-Mart

Wouldn't surprise me none if those sheets Wal-Mart sheets were made in China. I too do not ever walk into Wal-Mart anymore - for many reasons beyond product quality.
I've purchased COSTCO/KIRKLAND sheets and they are fairly durable. Not Ritz-Carlton quality by no means but decent. They're made in India (just checked). Right now I'd rather send my money to India rather than China. With China's horrific product quality issues, I too am boycotting Chinese products. I looked at my mug at work the other day. It said "Made In China" on the bottom. I thought "Is that mug poisoning me?" Probably full of lead (?)
