ive now seen the new *Arm & Hammer* brand vacuum bags being sold at Wal-Mart. seems odd to see Hoovers being sold and NO genuine Hoover bags available. i imagine this is a blow to Hoover, since they must have sold lots of type A and Y bags. did Hoover not have the clout to protest this unfortunate turn? could this be the end of Hoover bags made in the US?

This is odd...

Dont know if the same applies in the US but over here Hoover state that use of non genuine bags and filters WILL void the guarantee. If the same applies kinda leaves Wal Mart open to loadsa returns!!!. When I sell a Hoover I always inform the customer of this ;-)

Arm & Hammer at Wal Mart

and at Target its now Honeywell.

I doubt its the end of Hoover bags made in t5he USA, more than likely its all what the retailers could sell cheaper or turn more of a profit on.
Just my 2 cents

i have heard that genuine rule applied before, but not sure if it currently applies to Hoover machines today. by *the end of Hoover bags made in US*, i meant that Hoover must have sold a good percentage of their output at Wal-Mart. i think the type A and type Y may have been Hoovers most popular. losing the Wal-mart business cannot be good.

Nothing specific about the warranty, but the manual states:

"To assure[sic] that your cleaner operates at peak performance, it is imperative that you use only genuine HOOVER throw away bags made by The Hoover Company. Hoover bags can be identified by these trademarks--" [Hoover logotype and round Hoover logo]

Later versions change this to the more grammatically correct, "In order to maintain the original cleaning effectiveness and superior filtration qualities of your cleaner, use only Genuine Hoover(R) Allergen Filtration...."

Pretty sure that they could refuse warranty service if they proved that the imitation bags caused the problem, however.

Still made here....

Genuine Hoover bags are still being made right here in Canton, Ohio...I am still getting the misprints at the employee store for cheap. She just got a bunch from Plant 2 last week. I am not sure if they are made anywhere else. But as of now they are still being made in the USA.

Oh btw...

The gal at the employee store said that a lady came in to buy type C bags and found them to be misprinted. This lady wanted to know how she would know when her disposable type C bag was full. So my friend had to draw lines on each bag with a sharpie marker for this customer! After all how full can you fill a type C bag???? I know my mom would do her darndest to fill it up to the top and then some if time allowed or I did not interfere. Just a funny side note on this topic....
