built in expese difference

Because they have no idea how many people are going to purchase them as well as what size they'll want,it is more expensive for manufacturers to make the built in applainces. The factories in most cases have to hault manufacturoing a specific model to make the other depending on the size(mostly width which can be 24", 27",30",36" or 40".)and whether it's convection or not. Also, single or double oven regular or microwave.Generaly, built in dishwashers are less than the free standing ones and of course cooktops, gas or electric, are going to usualy cost less than a full range.Their manufacturers try their best to accomadate customer needs but there is a price for that.Built ins years ago were a lot less because they wern't as popular and their sizes were limited.Afetr around the early 70's,their prices increased dramaticaly.

Ken,

I have a 70's era GE P*7 wall oven. It works great. However while it has a rotisserie motor and meat probe outlet, it is missing the rotisserie hardware and the meat probe. Any idea where I could find these items? I have checked on-line and with local appliance parts dealer but so far, no luck.

P 7s

Had the rotisserie on our P 7 in a home we had. Worked great it used the broiler pan and had the two holders that went into holes on the broiler pan that held the spit. If I remember correectly the spit was much larger that a normal BBQ type spit. Used the tempature prob lots of time really worked great also. Wish we had kept the parts as we found out later from neighbors the new owners replaced them and the cooktop. The cooktop was stainless and had the push buttom controls in the vent hood.
