I'm not sure this will work, and it may be that the 1955 model design was different, but my mom's best friend had a D5 or D6 model dryer that was paired with her 1955 Unimatic. She put old panty hose on the exhaust vent on th4e side of her house to catch the lint. I saw this after they moved to Dallas from Houston in like 1965 or 1966. Blew my mind. Now mind you, I never saw a slant front Westinghouse dryer with the little door on top of the dryer to allow acccess to the lint screen to clean it until I got to use/play with a 1957 Westinghouse dryer when I was like 9 or 10 in 1963 or 1964. So that could be a deal breaker with my thought and dryer design.
