Ok heres the story I was working are call center a few months ago and this lady called in needing a pump for her washer, well they are NLA, I said dont let these go I know people who collect them I said let me know what you decide, well a few weeks go by and a get this call to come pick them up ok I only have tonight I leaving outta town in the morning. So after going to home to grab the truck I arrive not really knowing what I am picking up other than they have been setting in the same spot since 1963, I was like wow!!! Now I am not up on my Frigidaires of this era but I am sure there a keeper. well after balling out some water I go to disconect the hoses original I may add!!! and the valve breaks off in the wall from a nice rusty pipe!! So after this set back of fixing her plumbing I was able get these out of the room. Got these home and strated looking closer at the washer and figured out the reset button was out and she fired right up. well traveling for work etc I haven't been able to post these and others that have taken over my garage. So here they are.

I think....

those are probably taking up the most room in your garage right now and I understand you wanting to make more room since winter is coming. You probably want to get a car in that garage, right? Well I'll help you out and be right up to get these beautiful coppertone Frigidaires out of your way. Your car will thank you! (and I will too!)

Very nice machines and in such wonderful shape. The avocado Kenmore is one of my favorite models of theirs, too.

those are the best machines that Frigidaire made for that year. my mother bought them in white and we had them until 1985. I basically grew up with them. the dryer was the filtraitor because we could not vent out from the middle of the house. would love to have that set but CA is just too far away from you.
 
Congratulations on saving these Brett!! They look to be in very nice original condition. It so happens that this was my very first washer and dryer. (mine were white though) I had them until the late 1980's when the washer transmition bit the dust. Tried to get replacement parts but they were no longer available. I replaced the washer with a 1971 1-18, and used that machine with the 1963 dryer until about 2001. The control panels looked like they should light up, but mine never did. I think only the Imperials lit up, but not the Deluxe.

These are truly beautiful. As cool as the old Frigidaires were inside, this style is my all-time favorite from outside. When did they start the canted control panel? I'm sure I'd seen some with the previous generation three-ringer - '61 or 2 maybe?

I doubt the panel was lighted in a deLuxe, I think the reflection is due to the shiny aluminum panel above. And the dryer, I believe, had the round push-button to the left of the door. (and lint filter inside the door?)
Look like they're in nice condition, too. Look good in coppertone, by that time it was probably the most popular color other than white. Now we just need to find you a cap for that very rare agitator!

Robert, these deserve a permanent place on the site.
 
Another Multi-tragic!

Very nice set!

No lights on these, but still, what style for the laundry room! John in MD has a set of Custom Imperials (TOL) in his basement that are just breathtaking. By 1963, the 850 Rapidry feature was gone, too much trouble making the shifting fork and pulley system work for the high speed spin. 710 rpm was still impressive for any washer of it's time though...
 
Need some imformation on these

Ok I have done one load of car towels in them and the seem to work fine, To move them in to the house is a major job where my laundry room is and with the nightmere I had with the LG's I had, I am tired of moving things around here. So yes I will get them in there some day but I thinking more of the avocodo 1-18 to replace the neptune at this time there are just way to many choices :)

So what does this washer do any way? The spin didn't seem like anything to right home about. The agitor is misssing the cap, and looks pretty basic comparied to others pictured. any input here would be great.

You mentioned about the 1-18 replacing the Neptune...what happened to the electronic Lady K's you had? Or was that not your laundry room?
 
Remember seeing the post from Gansky1 the spin was 710 rp;m? These machines are very rare in this color and the style of them is incredible. And ya can't beat an overflow rinse!!! I"m sure someone will have an agitator cap somewhere.
 
Yes I agree Bob, the best thing about these machines is the washing and rinsing, in 1963 and 1964 Frigidaire removed any Rapidry spin from their machines and brought it back in 1965. These models spin at 710rpm, which was still the fastest spin speed available during the '63-'64 years, just not fast enough for us here.
 
Brett, Congratulations on a real find. Beautiful pair. The agitator cap is hard plastic with little ears to hold it in place, but they were not very durable and usually broke off. When you find one, you will have to get creative about keeping it in place while keeping it removable.

Copper and Green

But has anyone else noticed the Green machine? GASP! A window dial Kenmore! Can you show pics of that one, pretty please??????
 
OK more details.

Austin, the lady Kenmores are nicly tucked out in my shed with another set of Maytags I have, I had a very old and sick dog that I was doing 3-4 loads a day of pet beeding and it just could handle the comforter sizes, so I pulled it out and was using my old Caylpso which was great for that, so it died about the same week as the dog and I had picked up a Neptune with a stain brain and thought it would be fun for awhile. Oh I was using the new Oasis for three weeks and was not that impressied with it. I gave it a co-worker with two kids and the reviews have been 50/50.
Jason as for the the green Kenmore there are pics. in anothor thread with all the machines in the pictures.
Thanks to all of you for the info on this set, who know's I may get a wild hair and move them in.
