Hey Jon,I would love to see your basement and collection, you have all my favorites.Email me. The washer had its original cast metal pump which was seized. After replacing the pump and cleaning the machine up somewhat as it had black soot all over it I fired it up and it ran.I had to clean the fill valve and replace the lint filter which to my surprise I had at the bottom of the vintage parts bin along with one of those marble filters. For once the hoarding pays off.I think that pump failed and the people stuck the machine in a corner and there it stayed for I would say 40 years.I also wanted to know what happened to Roberts 57 that I saw on youtube.Does anybody know?I would love to have that.I am hoping to completely restore this one at least.

Mark  come on down, I am still in the middle of restoring 10 WP BD machines. Four are done with six more in pieces, I have been working on them almost every weekend. I can't believe how many new and good used parts I  have pulled together for this project. I have been taking pictures and will post some of the progress. John.

Hey John,Looking forward to seeing your current projects. My machine needs a lid handle in case you have one.I would also like to see your deluxe boltdown Bendix and know its history as it is the same one I have.I was so happy to find this machine one Saturday. Not only that but it was in one piece not dropped off a truck and its heavy!I have taken hundreds of machines from the Winchester dump(PC transfer station)and many if not most of the machines on this site I have seen there including Bendixes.I am not all that surprised that this machine was there as Winchester has alot of people to cheap to pay to get rid of stuff. My auto mechanic is going to paint the cabinet for me when I get it disassembled.I have a donor 1972 whirlpool for parts a customer gave me if i need an outer tub or baseplate.I was debating whether to change the baseplate to the newer one with support brackets.I will be doing centerpost bearings if I can find my puller.Cant remember when i did that last. Many moons ago...

Damage

It runs very well. The centerpost bearings are somewhat worn, other than that it just has surface rust.Best of all the porcelain on the basket is beautiful.will post more pics.

Congrats on a great find!My mother had a 57 exactly like yours. Guess there are still some 50's machines still to be found out there. My 56 came from a scrapyard too. A lot of work can make it look and run as new again.

I just love the 50's WP/KM machines!

Hey Rick your machine is beautiful. How did you get the knobs to look so good?Mine are horror movie knobs.Your water level looks a little high in the picture you might want to lower that a tad.
