Weired Miele launch profile

New products from Miele are nothing new in the past few years.

However, before, usually you'd first get them on the Miele website and then they'd be slowly launched through retailers.

Now I discovered a new W1 model (WMB125 WPS, a non PW2.0 model that apparently reaches A+++-40%, titled W1 Performance) and a new oven range (Active models, starting from 500€ upwards), already offered by several retailers without ANY notion on the consumer page of Miele, except for a pretty old press release about the Active ovens.

They did some launches recently (Active line dryers, the "Best friend" dryer launch), and all of them came to the Miele webpage first, each with their own brochure and everything.
So, seems weired for these launches to be kind of reversed.

Unusual, but not unheard of

I was in the Miele Design Center about 10 years ago getting info. for a friend - we were doing a new kitchen.

Saw a dishwasher I'd never seen before. Asked about it and the saleswoman was just gushing about how it was an 'exclusive' and not yet in the catalogs - if we were willing to commit to answering some detailed surveys, we could have it for only €1000, more than €700 less than what it would be retailing for in the next catalog.

Didn't go for it, but always made a point of going to Sendlinger Tor first before buying any new Miele appliances after that.

I wondered if the reason was that particular Miele machines were exclusive to certain independent retailers?

Yeah, they did that sometimes... And the selection of retailers that I find online would suggest that.
But then I don't see the marketing strategy: For the same price I get the simmilar machine that is "just" A+++, they visually don't tell themselves apart, and non of the retailers put the -40% in their product title.

So without digging a little, the only thing that stands out is the name...
