I am in Kansas until the end of the month. The Cadillac SRX made it with a few issues. The display flashes "Stability Control Device Activated" then it will say "Right Tire Presure --" or "Have Systems Display Serviced As Soon As Possible." It has been needing oil every 1,000 miles or so and never in all the time I've owned it has it leaked fluid of any kind. While on the road for 48 straight hours, I began to smell oil and when first stopping, bits of smoke waft out from the front of the car. Its 1,850 miles from Seattle. Sara's been driving the car to work daily and I've added the normal 2 quarts so far.
Before heading back home I'd like to have a local mechanic look at the car. I am in Shawnee or the Kansas side of Kansas City. Does anyone know a reputable dealer in the area. I won't go to a Cadillac garage because I don't want textbook, I would prefer some real grease monkey input.
My daughter has a queen size cherry 4 poster canopy bed to give away. Its natural or light finish and a more squared or Danish design. The four posts are connected with a wooden framework providing stability and design and the posts are topped with pediments. If you're close and want a free bed (I bought it for them for their wedding present from Scandia Design in Seattle)shoot me an email.
Thanks,
Kelly

The Ruby Slippers

I'll ask my daughter to let me use her computer and down load some photos. The trips was fine, I stopped twice. Once in Prosser to visit my favorite aunt. There was a second hand store close to her house. I bought a Kitchenaid Dishwasher for $50.00. The lady told me its never been used. The owner started it and it scared her so she turned it off. That's soap residue inside. It has so many hard water deposits you can only wash cups two at time. Then I stopped for 2 hours in Laramie Wyoming and slept. I've been babysitting my two grandkids, cleaning, cooking and having the time of my life. The neighbors on both sides come to dinner while I'm here. I'm like a pig in warm mudd and happy as a clam. When my daughter shows me how to use her MAC, I'll post some pictures.

Kelly so sorry to hear about the car issues but very happy that you are having so much fun!!! Terry

Terry

Terry, my fantasy twin. If only you were here we could cook, laugh, love, hug, feed, drink, play and look into each eyes and say, "It just doesn't get better than this." I have seen you on the end of a Sunbeam and I know you how to play the dial!

No Rest for the Wicked

The bed is gone, but the car is still an issue. I'm off to Atcheson, St Joseph and Lawrence tomorrow so it'll be a smoking day. My friend say she knows someone in her town who will look at it. Thanks for all the helpful advice and input.

Wild Woman

Just wait until they all see what you have filled my car with. We need to show them your collections from storage as well as the Chambers at the house. These are people who really appreciate a fine collector and think its perfectly normal being homeless to pay for 8 storages units filled with vintage cooking equipment. Just wait until we start loading up all the old wringer washers from Northern Kansas. If nothing else they'll make great watering troughs for the horses!! See you in the morning, Cupcake.

Help I've Fallen and I can't get up.

It was called Ryan's and the last thing I remember was the Dessert Bar! I held me stomach until we crossed the Missouri and then got pulled over for having blocking material on the front dashboard. You are evil Leo.

Car Full

So far, a 50's GE Swivel Top Vacuum with the plastic attachment bin, good hose, wands, all the attachments and selfwind cord in seafoom green. A Kenmore Mixer to match in the same green from 1957. Sunbeam Egg Cooker, Party Time Sandwich Maker and C-30 Coffee Maker. Ice Cream Maker, Kitchenaid chrome 4C, tons of Corning Ware, beaters, bowls, pieces is parts, Cuisinart Coffee Grinder and more Frankoma, Desert Sand Wagon Wheel dinnerware. A leather office chair and so far that's for the return trip. I have 5 days and twice as manay states left to explore. I must save room to pick up the Kitchenaid Dishwasher on the way home. I have to see Dr Death in Oncology on the 2nd of September and speaking of injections there is a wonderful, patient, loving, generous man waiting for my return. I cleared my head about where should I go, what should I do. Take care of my kids on Kansas, my parents in Ellensburg, move to the South to the Country House in Alabama or forsake it all for the One. Two weeks, living in the middle of my children's life, talking with my parents the answer is clear. I need to go home to the One. From there I can love and support them all, but I am going to come first.

Ok, well someone has to break the news eventually. The Wizzard was from Kansas, but didn't live here after he became the Wizzard. Since, hopefully, we are past tornado season there will be little chance of you seeing him this year.

Just remember if the Caddy gives up and dies, you can always tap your Ruby Slippers together and say "there's no place like home." Remember, at this point, there is little chance you will get to visit Auntie Em, as I hear she retired and moved to Florida after Toto and that ungrateful little Niece of her's moved away. But I hear she is living it up with a scarecrow and tin man and having a wild time; these arem however, just rummors. You know how those small towns talk.

Good luck on your return trip, it sounds like you will have to rent a trailer or semi to get your new finds home.

Tin Man

I was always drawn to the Tin Man's Heart, his good looks and wanting to be oiled in the worst way.

70 YEARS Of OZ

I didnt realize it was today,so I think I will get out my 16mm print of the movie and watch it with my Skipper beagle out in the garage tonight on my Bell@Howell 179,if its not tooo hot.

Evil am I?

I suffered from the same complaint as you Mixfinder! Ryan's is the Evil one!

I am happy you have your priorities straight, but Kansas and the Wizard will always welcome you back!!!
