Funny to see that you posted this because about three weeks ago I fell asleep in front of the TV on a Sat night while watching TCM. I woke up somewhere between 3-4 AM just as a movie was ending. And then this advertisement played. First time Ive ever seen any type of vintage advertisement shown on TCM. My guess would be 1966.

What was in that Westinghouse fridge to make those folks so HAPPY-This film encourages you to make your fridge the life of your party!!I think Jam Handy was high on something when he made this picture! But the GOOD thing---no Stainless Steel!Just fake Plastique wood and wallpaper.Loved how the woman went from Plastique wood to flower power wallpaper!

Well Am Sure Can Top Both Of You Guys

As one is almost certain posted a link to the same GE advert last year or even long before. And yes the first few minutes did remind one of "Night of the Living Dead". Well whomever did the costume design/wardrobe with that terrible polyester double knit pantsuit ought to have been shot. *LOL*

As for the *party* sequence all that jumping up and down, gyrating and frugging! No wonder parent's thought their kids were going off. *LOL*

Only good thing about the video is it allowed one to discover this gem about Seaside Heights, NJ from the 1960's.

In August 1961, we moved into a home that was custom-built (as nearly all pre-WW2 homes were) in the mid-1930s. The kitchen was original, and mere months after moving in, my mother had the kitchen gutted and entirely remodeled, other than the wallpaper, which was probably not original-1930s and which featured a pleasant botanical print. Out went the whitewashed pine cabinets with colonial black hardware and the tile counters. In came maple cabinets with white Formica counter, a Frigidaire stainless steel double electric built-in oven, a garbage disposal, a Tappan steel finish coil electric cooktop, and the pièce de résistance, a KitchenAid Superba dishwasher.

Our DW had a wood panel that matched the cabinets, so I'm guessing that this model came either in a choice of metal panels or "supply your own panel" option. In retrospect, I'm not sure that wood was such an astute choice, because when you have little kids (I was 6, my sister 4) loading and unloading a dishwasher, there will bound to be drips and spills. We moved from the house ten years post-renovation and I remember the front panel showing signs of water damage (duh). Hopefully people who install fully integrated (wood panel, with door rim controls, so it appears to be part of the cabinetry) DWs use more water-resistant materials these days!!

That is a really neat info-mercial for Westinghouse. They put out some really nice appliances. I don't remember anyone that i knew that had Westinghouse major appliances. Of course one of our early clothes dryers was a Westy before we turned into an exclusive Frigidaire family.
