This is a beautiful range! And priced very reasonably, I hope someone local to it may save it. I have the same stove, the dash is so impressive, a work of art very similar to the car designs of the period as Sandy points out. This appears to be the last of the Westinghouse 'floating dash' models with the light that shines below the dash onto the cooktop and above, in this case lighting the panel to the left of the controls, as well as lighting the color-coded burner controls (which to do that, the dash light comes on any time that a burner is turned on). The stoves (and other appliances) of this era were sturdily built and designed, were pioneering lots of innovative features and gadgets, and like cars, you may either love or hate an individual company's design and features, but they were all different and fun!

My 1964 Westinghouse range has a three position switch for the fluorescent light: always off, always on or switched on with the surface units since it has lenses below each control and instead of differing colors, there is a wheel that is all red on high and then the line tapers down as the lower ranges of the scale are dialed. Again, it shows that there is a great area of available heat levels between high and medium high which is half heat at 5 or 6 then on down to the lowest setting. Most cooking operations other than keeping large quantities of water boiling for pasta and possibly deep fat frying would not use those upper heat ranges because it is just too damn hot, as the song goes, or too much heat under the pan, especially with 2600 watt 8" elements and 1600 watt 6" elements.
