Has anyone actually seen one? When exactly were they made? (That is: from what year to what year?)

It supposedly stands "a foot taller" than a regular dryer & the space below it is "a drawer for lint storage", meaning is there "a huge screen that collects lint", or something like that?

Anyone with information, I would like to know!

Dave (Charles Klamkin fan! & Whom I've heard about the "Hi Dryer" from in his book: HOW TO BUY..., thus much of what I've wrote above, is what he actually quoted; fotnote, here! --Ha, ha!)

Westinghouse 's tall washer and dryer

The pair's names were the Taller Tumbler and the Higher Dryer. Their availability must have ben brief, maybe in the late 60s to early 70s before the economy took a dump on the world, but I can't quite remember the time period of the magazine ads. No, the drawer for for hangers and other laundry supplies. The dryer construction was the same as the regular Westinghouse dryer with the same lint screen. It is sorta frightening to think about the washer being taller and having a drawer underneath it because Westinghouse was not known for using heavy gauge steel and the snubber system for vibration isolation was just adequate at floor level. The washer probably could have been known as Waltzing Matilda. They needed a very heavy frame around that washer base. Westinghouse was trying to remove the objection that women had to having to bend over to load and unload the machine. One mature WH owner said that bending to get to the tub kept her young and supple.

There was a Tall Tumbler 3 belt westy with the extra storage drawer, plus a retrofit storage box/ to place a regular westy up higher. These drawers are just like todays pedestals, they slide out and one could store stuff.

Just like today, if a washer is badly vibrating a pedestal can be worse. It was in the early 1970's I helped another place a westy washer on a westy box. The machine weights about 260 to 270 lbs thus this was fun.

I have only seen a tall tumbler; not a high dryer.
