I plan to convert all my Westies to electric drain pumps from modern HE machines.   The power source is right there (drain pump solenoid) and the in/out connections should be pretty easy.   The thing I haven't worked out yet is the pick up point for the water level pressure switch.   This is one of those "back burner" projects, so I'll figure it out eventually.

I'd leave the old pump attached and in-line, then attach the electric pump downstream. The electric will do the pumping, and the old pump body will still be there to handle the pressure-switch duties. With the solenoid disconnected and power rerouted to the electric pump, the old pump won't ever be driven.

Not sure if the impeller in the old pump would obstruct too much, but you could remove it.

Alternately, you could pull the drive spring and guts out, seal the hole in the back of the pump body, and then it could just sit in place and be nothing more than an air dome. :-)

I just called them today John. The lady said she had a bunch but they were thrown out and I was too late or "SOL" in her words. Jerry, I'll contact you a little later.

If someone wants to check behind me, feel free. I spoke to the lady there this afternoon. Perhaps she was a new employee? If you find out something different let me know. I was going to order 2 just in case!

After all the business AW members have done over the years how did they not know to contact someone. This is off topic here I know Mr. Larry passed. New owners or a buyout? A
