Hello everybody. I was wondering why we don't see Westinghouse dishwashers in the US anymore. I noticed that we see more frigidaires. Are the same? What were they like in the 2000's? What were the features between the 2? How did they differ? I'd like to know. Thank you.

Thread 64112 has most of the answers we were able to come up with.
I posted pictures of what I had from an ancient Home Economics text book.

I believe the WCI takeover just relegated what were two different brands offering the same appearance and identical features into one...

And Frigidaire won!

merger

they must of merge the westinghouse brand with fridgedair washers and if you look at the history of fridgedaire washers the fridgedair appliance brand started out being part of the general motor (gm) yes the car mnaker of chevrolet pontiac ect devision until bough by wci witch cause washers made by fridgedair to look like in this thread

until they look like this before they discontinued the line of appliances in the 2000 era

Seeing the Frigidaire thread the link goes to, and noticing the 'FRIGIDAIRE COMPANY -- Dayton, Ohio 45449' label there, kind'a reminds me of the "Mr. Martin Tanner, baritone of Dayton, Ohio" line, spoken in the Harry Chapin song, "Mr. Tanner"...

Summing up how in similarity how the singer's voice wasn't up to contemporary standards, it's surprising what passes for that in today's appliance industries...

I like when a Westinghouse and Frigidaire washer, as you see the examples of here, each were different from one-another despite the ownership by the exact same company...

Wonder what ghost very plant must look like today--I probably never thought of investigating, in the way of passing through, if I'd ever been through though, despite it as a Michigander, it being an area I live fairly near...
