anyone interested in this oven or have any info on it such as it's age?

it's here in ohio and the folks asked me if i wanted it. i really don't think so but if i knew more about it it would help me decide. or if someone else wants it i would not interfere with them getting it first.

i have a frigidaire wall oven that i like now with a stainless front, older model ofcourse so i really don't think i would want this one. but it is kinda cute!

Hey Pete,

Sorry for the delay in responding. This Westinghouse wall oven looks to be the 30" model (requires a 33" cabinet). The door panel looks as if it's the same one that's used on my 1953 Westinghouse 30" free-standing range, as does the interior. The 30" range was a new model introduced in '53,and that style ran until '57, when the squared off look came out. It's probable the wall oven was also introduced at about that time. As the one pictured is yellow, I'd say it was made sometime between '54 and'57. I alway thought having the controls at the bottom looked kind of odd. If I had space, it would be nice to have, but I just don't know where I'd put it.

they sent me an e mail

they are asking 300 bucks which i think is way too high! i was thinkin more like 50.

but i told em i would post it for them. supposedly i am buying a kitchenaid dishwasher from them, a kd-12 model in red
(if they ever send me their phone no and a time to pick up).

$300 does seem high.. But it is a neat oven. I have a kitchen planning book from 1956 which shows this oven in an illustration of various different built-in ovens and they described it as having the widest oven opening of all the built-ins!
Hope the red KA isn't also priced out of this world!!

Yes $300 is high, by about

$280. I have a stainless version that I paid $10 for; the same yellow job I picked up free on a curb.
At a recycle place last week in the SF bay area there was a
pink one for $180. So nice that people want others to pay for stuff they want to discard.

Yes, It's electric

Under the false bottom is an open coil type bake element. The entire unit plugs into a receptacle in the back. The top has an open coil broiler element. The elements in mine have never been replaced.

For $350.00, you get all this.

My, that looks familiar!!! It's similar to my all-in-one GE kitchen, but it looks like they replaced the undercounter washer-dryer with a newer KA... (guess they couldn't find the right wiring diagram either!! lol).
If anyone gets this, the dishwasher is actually pretty easy to work on!!

yes the kd-12 was also way overpriced

i sent em a reply telling them politely that just cause somethiong is old doesn't make it worth 500 bucks. i told them i have never paid more than 200 for any dishwasher and that the kd-12 is not that rare a find. they relented on the price and i picked it up today.

saw the oven, it's ok but nothing special. i got a really nice frigidaire wall oven last year with stainless front for 50 bucks so 300 is ridiculous! i agree, 20 is more like it!

love that set that goatfarmer put on here! beautiful. if only i had more room and more money, i am about "spent" on both!

bet someone will grab it! it's too pretty to let go!

My sister (who is 12 years older than me) was visiting today and I introduced her to the AW site. She laughed, and told me some stories about how appliance-crazy I was as a toddler. Apparently, I was notorious for starting the dishwasher all the time, and I'd use a 2-step stool to climb up on the washer and push all the cycle buttons (we had one of those cool one-touch Kenmores (1960 Model 80). Sound familiar, LOL? My parents finally started pulling the fuse for the washer, and when I'd push a button and nothing would happen, I'd start crying.

Anyway, she confirmed that the first house I lived in had one of these Westinghouse ovens, as well as a pull-out dishwasher. The cooktop and refrigerator were Westinghouse, too. The house was built by my dad in 1956 or 57. I tried to find the thread that pictured the cooktop and dw, but was unable to find it.
