Westy L5 - Oh so close....

I was just itching to get back to Ogden to fiddle around with the Westy some more - the jet lag and time zone differences had me all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Sunday morning so I had to get cracking on the Laundromat.
I had to replace the gasket on the pump - the one I tried to make didn't seal well at all. That was the easy part - I hate to admit this, but it took me a couple of hours to get the timer dial reassembled properly! I could not seem to make the dial pop in or out with the front panel back in place... Mr-Know-It-All here didn't line up the front panel properly! So, I figured it was time for a cycle test.
The following is an example of how NOT to do plumbing work - remember, if you are in the market for a house and find one with plumbing like this - run like hell!! LOL

Reassembled and looking good

Except the Look-In glass is wee bit off centre. I will have to align that 'Laundromat' lettering lest I invoke the wrath of the gods of Westinghouse!
So, the machine started up fine, water ran into the tub and it held water for the most part. The wheels fell off as the water level rose and started to really slosh around in the tub - any water that splashed on the door ran right down the front of the machine at the bottom of the door!! I wanted to cry.
I spent a good couple of hours trying to figure out if I had not installed the door correctly, but saw no obvious adjustments. I looked at the CL8 Laundromat out in the garage and noticed the lip of the door boot was not flush with the front panel of the machine like the NOS door boot I installed on the L5... I am now convinced that a Q4699 door boot is not the right one for the L5 (or the CL8 for that matter!)... AAAARGH!
The original part, a Q4688 door boot, is unlikely to be found, so I am thinking that I will have to add some kind of a gasket to the door of the L5 to stop the water flow.
Any thoughts or suggestions?? I was thinking of using a closed-cell foam tape like I used on the GE pull-out dishwasher...

The Q4688 is for the Spacemate Laundromat washer. I would use the close-cell foam tape around the edge of the door glass. Black closed-cell tape is nearly invisible, I had to use it on mine when I tried to trim the boot sealing edge to allow the door to even close. I had to leave a small opening at the top of the tape-circle to allow for air to escape when the machine was filling or it blew back out the fill-flume that is so conveniently located under the iron tub weight.

Looking good so far, keep up the good work! BTW, your plumbing isn't that bad - I always say it's temporary and can be removed before the sign hits the front yard.

That looks like some of the plumbing here in my house, LOL. I still have no hot water in the kitchen, landlord hasn't replace the water heater for the kitchen yet. I thinking of running a long hose for the basement to the kitchen so I don't have to run the dishwasher in the bathroom all the time.

Mention to your landlord the tax credit for replacing the water heater, it may motivate him to hurry up. I just had an on-demand water heater installed and it rocks!!
