Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The future of automatic washer.org

Thank you Robert for getting the site back up and running again.

I would envision the site being taken over by a board of directors probably about six directors that initially would all invest at least one to $2000 in the site to help pay you for some of your efforts. Automatic washer.org is already a well-known website that thousands of people look at every year and come to for advice on their older appliances and it should be able to be self-sufficient with modest fees charged for various aspects of using the site advertising, etc..

At my age I’m certainly not interested in running it, but I would be willing to serve on a board of directors, some improvements in the site are definitely needed and I can see where you’ve put an enormous effort into it, and I certainly don’t blame you for not wanting to make this your only life‘s goal.

I am grappling with the same problem right now I’m thinking of making the museum here in Beltsville nonprofit and setting up a board of directors to manage it after I’m gone hopefully some of the younger members will take some of the responsibility someday. I am working with an attorney now to see how feasible this is.

Thanks again for getting this running but I do think it’s a good time to start making some plans for all of us. None of us are getting any younger.

I would like to hear anybody’s ideas about how to run this site in the future also, if anybody has any ideas for my museum warehouse project, I’d love to hear those as well. Also people that might be willing to serve on the board of the Beltsville Museum. It’s Good time to start this discussion.

Thank you everybody for all you’ve contributed to the site even though I’m pretty knowledgeable about appliances. Obviously I learn things every week on this site that has helped me in my job as well.

Happy holidays John.

I dread thinking about what could or might happen to this site. Though I seldom chime in, I come to this site daily for the picture of the day and to read the new posts in Imperial and Super, and several times a week in Deluxe and ATTT. I have learned so much from the group here and you all have helped me solve many problems in the repair of washers and dryers. Robert, I can't tell you how much I appreciate all that you do here. Your dedication and knowledge is certainly admirable. I pray that somehow the site goes on so that we can all continue to grow and learn. As a man in his 60's myself, I certainly understand your dream of retirement. You deserve it and I wish you the best.

I suppose for many of us life won`t be the same anymore when the day comes to an AW without Robert as Webmaster.

But nothing in life we take for granted will be forever and everyone understands if a beloved hobby has slowly turned into work or maybe even a chore then it`s time to move on.

Anyway, thank you Robert for providing this space for all the years and thank you for letting us know your plans whatever the outcome in the future may be and not letting us run into cold turkey!

Thank you

Robert,
I'll join the chorus of thanking you for all you've done, Robert. Participating in AW has been a rewarding experience. Wishing you the best in finding a future for AW when you retire.

Retirement

Funny with retirement is you will have all kinds of free time. In the beginning it is all well and fun, but after awhile you will have done all you wanted to do around the house etc, then you start thinking what can I do now? After being so active working so many years you start to wander around looking for something to do and keep the brain active. You might want to hold onto this and keep it going. Since you won't have your job to do anymore, you won't have to try and squeeze in time to keep this sight going. It might become more of a hobby. Just throwing this out there.
