Hi Guys.
The Electron 1100 is model A3474 and marked Hoover's first foray into offering variations in the colour styling of their machines.
This machine was offered alongside its siblings the A3470 (beige facia/beige bodyshell) and A3472 (beige facia/white bodyshell) and replaced the A3350 in the model lineup, circa 1987/88.
Didn't last long though, as they were quickly replaced by the first generation of Logic's.
Real shame it has probably departed this world as a machine by the time I type this, as they seem to be quite rare - have only ever seen them in brochures, before you posted this pic Gary.
Not too au fait with the washer-dryer side of things Matthew, but my understanding is that the exclusive offerings sold through the Electricity Board Shops and those badged as Aristocrats tended to be offered with unusual spin maximums, totally out of keeping with the Hoover norm of 800 and 1100. There were 1000rpm, as well as 1050rpm and, I think, 1150rpm versions.
This weird spin maximums on exclusive models continued with New Wave and Classica models - i think it was here that the 1050 and 1150rpm machines were more prevelant.
Cheers for posting the piccies Gary.
I am crying for the Electron, but nevertheless great to see a real one from the A3470/72/74 series for the first time!
