Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Bloody hell you dont see a 275 in years then I end up having 2, now yours and numerous on ebay.

Im very amused they took the initiative to screw the fascia on on the left hand side. where the whole lot of them slip!

that Electron

looks identical to my ecologic washer dryer 1000. I guess they kept the electron fascia for the logic and ecologic washer dryers cos the washers changed after this series. I still haven't seen another 1000rpm spin square door hoover apart from mine, most are either 800 or 1100. Is mine a special edition or something?

Hi Guys.

The Electron 1100 is model A3474 and marked Hoover's first foray into offering variations in the colour styling of their machines.

This machine was offered alongside its siblings the A3470 (beige facia/beige bodyshell) and A3472 (beige facia/white bodyshell) and replaced the A3350 in the model lineup, circa 1987/88.
Didn't last long though, as they were quickly replaced by the first generation of Logic's.

Real shame it has probably departed this world as a machine by the time I type this, as they seem to be quite rare - have only ever seen them in brochures, before you posted this pic Gary.

Not too au fait with the washer-dryer side of things Matthew, but my understanding is that the exclusive offerings sold through the Electricity Board Shops and those badged as Aristocrats tended to be offered with unusual spin maximums, totally out of keeping with the Hoover norm of 800 and 1100. There were 1000rpm, as well as 1050rpm and, I think, 1150rpm versions.
This weird spin maximums on exclusive models continued with New Wave and Classica models - i think it was here that the 1050 and 1150rpm machines were more prevelant.

Cheers for posting the piccies Gary.
I am crying for the Electron, but nevertheless great to see a real one from the A3470/72/74 series for the first time!

Electron 1100

This is the first of this type of electron i have seen at work aswell, it wont go totally to waist as i shall strip out the motor and various other useful bits, though it grieves me to do this but i havent room for any more.

I dread telling this but the other week an English Electric liberator tumble dryer came in loads of chrome and style and it worked! arghhh ...i had to get my mate to put in the skip whilst i looked away, I didnt have my camerawith me either

The Creda yes i saw the screws and thought droopy fascia ;-)

Ah well glad you all liked the pix

Gary

Hi Gary.

Can I ask you a favour?

Could you postpone stripping the bits off the electron and maybe put it safely to one side for a bit?

There is a good reason for this - a machine like this may come in useful to a mate of mine who has a rebuild project in mind, the start of which is ideally awaiting an A3108 or A3110, but for which an Electron would probably do as well.

I have just spoken to him and he will e-mail you direct later today to explain more!

Cheers
Paul

Electron 1100

Hello Paul

Sorry but i stripped the motor and drum etc out of it today, you see I only work there 3 days a week, and there is no where i can store stuff safely, the other crew are useless on this sort of thing.
So if ever a Hoover of this sort comes in I tend to strip out any useful parts.
Again Sorry
Gary

No worries Gary...

and no need to apologise.

Spares reclamation is an important part of our hobby - especially for someone with an A3110, A3190 and A3308 to care for.

So totally understand.

However, should an A3110 bodyshell type of machine turn up (A3110 or Electron - ideally the former) can you let me, or better still him, know.

My mates project is very worthwhile - be quite interesting seeing the electonics of this particular model of Hoover automatic controlling an actual machine again!

fingers crossed for something to resurface which is suitable and in a condition where conversion is easy on the conscience - I love A3110's.

cheers
Paul
