I'm about to try fixing a recalcitrant machine this week. Does anyone know what makes a refrigerator high side float stick?

Just curious.

Yes, please explain. I went to school for HVAC and never heard of such. ARe you speaking of the cap tube metering device freezing up? Maybe so, if so, it needs a new on sweated in.

The high side float is a float valve that restricts liquid refrigerant where it enters the evaporator.

On earlier refrigeration, its called a high side float if its on the high pressuse side of the compressor and a low side float if its on low pressure side. Some machines I believe used expansion valves instead, and I know that the 1937 Frigidaire I sold had a heat exchanger as well.

Enjoy the picture. Its what a late monitor top looks like if you saw it in half!
