What color is "Poppy" really??

Hi all--

I know many of you that have those Poppy 1-18's have dealt with this, so i need some suggestions. I need to have the cabinet of my Poppy 1-18 repainted, but i see that there are several slight but noticeable variations in the red of Poppy red, depending on the pictures, from everyone. How the hell do you know which 'red' is 'POPPY' red?? Mine looks more orangish than some of the brilliant, screaming Poppy R E D colors i've seen on other members 1-18's. Methinks mine was out in the sun some, who knows. Any ideas?

Take off the lid, and have it color matched. Any good paint store can do that.

Terrecotta is the color that matches(did I spell that right???)

be careful to perform the matching under full spectrum lighting.

Lowe's has narrow spectrum vapor lamps, others have flourescents. You need to do it outdoors or in the (day numbered) incandescent ceiling fan and ceiling fixtures incandescent area.

or not. Just know that red is not the most available color to most modern light sources, so it appears more brown in those circumstances.

There were actually

two Poppy Reds in Fridgidaire history. The earlier one was a real chinese red the later more towards a brick or terracotta red.
I like the Chinese Red! I think the earlier red was single tone the later had two tone edging too.

You guys rock! Lowes? who woulda thunk! I especially luv the bit about the TWO Poppy reds-- no wonder the differences, and i thought it was just me-- thankyou, Jetcone (and everyone else!)

Next question is, i'm assuming enamel? Bulk quantity for use in a spraygun? Obviously roller and brush isn't an option... well, not for me anyway.

You can do a decent job with a roller, many paint their cars, etc.
