What color would you suggest?

sorry, I have to vote against the pale orange too - your floors and trim look too orange (in the photo anyway) to add more of the same.

I fell deeply in love at The Cuff once, on a weekend in Seattle.... bothering me now I can't remember his name...

The Cuff

The Timberline closed, which was a large well lighted, play to every venue bar. The Cuff retro fitted and came back a bit less forbidding and is now the neighbor bar for anyone. The pretty boys linger at Purr, the bears at CC Attles and the over 40's like the Madison Pub.
Me, I just like home, where the service is good, the price reasonable and I can control the volume. You're always welcomed.

OK, I know that white (or white-ish) walls are getting a bad rap right now for being pedestrian, but I love the way everything of color in a room stands out against them. I like the white walls of your living room.

Respect the Fireplace!

I think that soft copper is the way to go,it will pull the warm colors out of the stone in the fireplace while the gray grout and cool tones of some of the stones of the fireplace talk to the rug and chairs. Subtle comlimentary effect with warms and cools-a healthy nod to the 50's, with a tempering of the taste that time has embellished. Phil

But I'm not sure what the would be. Is that an actual color from a manufactuer, or is it more esoteric?

I love copper tints anyway, and it would also be a nice Northwesty touch, since the NW has so many copper smelts.

Those 50's chairs and that shag carpet are classic for sure and the colors are all a deep blue. You need something over the top in the opposite direction to balance the room. The BBC show "Changing Rooms" did a show once where they redid a bedroom and they used a teal and hot pink combination. At first it doesn't sound like the best, but the 2 cancel each other out and it worked.
I would say if all you do is add a band of pink or hot pink about 10" or 12" as a border at the ceiling or close to it, it would add just enough bright color to spruce up the room. It also would not entail alot of work.

Crayola should put out colors in naughty themes. Perhaps a Bar Theme "MOODS" collection. What would the colors be for Disco bars, punk bars, gay bars, sex clubs, etc. ? lol It would have to include several shades of Black. smokey black, purple-black, blue-black, red-black, intense purple, violent red, urine yellow, psychotic metal blue, silver, to name a few.

How about "Pirates Cove Beach" by Benjamin Moore, to harmonize with the vertical window treatment and gently warm the frame of the fireplace stone?

I'm thinking a light, pale yellow on the walls would look great with the blue. For some reason, I've always thought that yellow and blue go together nicely. I guess because they are recipocals on the colorwheel. (something I've learned from the audiovisual trade!)
